It's unfortunate we don't heed the advice to not rush out of the wonder years because we don't realize life is fleeting. Very nice job. Thank you for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for the review on this. The contest is over and probably the promotion too. I won second prize. I'm glad you liked it.

Beautiful! It would be nice to visit back there again now and then. To see the world once again through rose-colored glasses. Look and turn around and it's gone. Great job! Good luck with the contest. You have my vote!

I find myself WISHING like the narrator I could live again in a young person's body, to see and experience the world as he does, to be totally innocent and unknowing of what the real world is like. You capture HIS world beautifully in each stanza. Rod

This free verse, Wonder Years, allows that we would certainly take the opportunity to revisit those glorious years when everything was new, all futures were possible, and the evil in the world was only a big bad wolf.

This poem has a wistful and evocative tone juxtaposing the world as seen through the eyes of a four year old 'so young and innocent' before the reality of grown-up life begins to dawn, all too soon.

Thank you so much for the lovely review and comments. I'm afraid the children of today grow away from those years way to quickly.

Our childhood will always remain simple and joyful. When we look at the world through the child's eyes, it looks beautiful and dramatically changes as we grow older. I really enjoyed your free verse poem vivid painting a mental picture of those wonder years. Good luck in the contest!

You took me with you in this poem. How beautiful and how necessary to see again the world and its wonders through the eyes of a child. Just a shame that they have to surrender the lucidity of this moment for the cloudier reality. Beautifully composed. I wish you success.

We are indeed anxious to grow up and don't realise that actually our youthful days are the best of our life when we are carefree and enjoy the wonder of life, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

You've captured the fresh eyes of youth marvellously in your poem, where the young person can show the older person past pleasures to remind them of simpler times, before 'a cloudier reality' hid the horses in the clouds.
