Very much food for thought that maturity in today's young is delayed due to modern distractions, and them being constantly entertained rather than given responsibility. I look at my niece's children they seem to always have activities such as fishing, golfing, flying, swimming, trips, etc, to keep them busy.
Very well thought out and said writing.
Regards,
Mary

Hello Bill Scott are you saying;
that the "birth of maturity" means. The first thought is that young adults are becoming responsible for themselves at a much later age in these days of "modernity."

    Yes, Gert. Sarcasm and mediocrity is the norm today.

It seems to me that you are saying if the youth of today don't mature as they should, they won't be able to handle the roles of responsibility and the future is uncertain. I like it that you expressed this uncertainty as unprinted currency.

Will we ever reach maturity? That's my question. I turned 82 today. I'm waiting for my ascension assurancy, but the higher power is slow at printing the currency and the fortress of the future is breached. I don't anticipate much change by next August 10th. An interesting poem, Bill.

Bill,
I like your futuristic theme of this poem.
We have computers, but our children and adults use them to hide or avoid others located outside their comfort zone. With fires, global worming and crime, our world may not have a future.
Excellent poem.
Good luck in the contest.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Excellent bit of social commentary poetry here, Bill. The notion that maturity is postponed in modernity is apt, or at least that is what seems to be the case (and is perhaps even celebrated in some circles). This brief read has a great bit of thought behind it and the opportunity for thought and discussion ahead. Thank you for sharing.

This was a wonderful read. I loved the way your words rolled off my tongue and around my brain. You chose them well. I think you must be a natural poet- or at least you give the impression. You make it look effortless.

Interesting poem which makes me ponder what the "birth of maturity" means. The first thought is that young adults are becoming responsible for themselves at a much later age in these days of "modernity." That can definitely "breach the fortress of the future." A deep contemplative poem!
