And what a twist! With the death of Neil it adds more flavor to the book. Funny how grief, can bring out passion in some people. I have heard of this kind of grief stricken sexual display in life, even though it seems strange to me.

Wow. A man with scruples. I had no idea ... I though tit was a 'done deal' between them. Nice ending. Good man, that Ray fella.
One little boo boo:
- I think it?s always been you I wanted.? (something you and I wanted?)
Great job, Marjorie, especially the interaction. I'm trying to follow along ...
Merry Christmas!! :)

Thank you for sticking with me on this. Following an entire novel is a big commitment and I appreciate it.

Merry Christmas to you and yours also!

I like the way you reworded the "explosion" bit. True, cars can catch on fire and burn down, so it works, and there is still the illusion of a fiery crash without all the hoopla of an explosion. Very nicely redone.

Everything checked out great.

Best regards,

Heather

It was a small change, but major in regard to realism, as you pointed out. I'm still wondering if I need to give more details regarding the fire. I haven't give up on that idea.

You're worth your weight in gold and then some, Heather!

Don't find many like Ray. Now if that was me, I really don't know what I would do. If I was married then I know what I would do. Nothing! Good very good keep it up.

Ray is one of a kind, all right. He has his flaws, but he's a very honorable man.

(As for your choice ... good for you, John. I had a feeling that would be it. Go ask your wife for a hug and a kiss ... or whatever. LOL You deserve it.)

Uh, oh! what is going on here? You know, I'm going to miss Neil too. He was such a doll. I'm finding this real soft spot for Ray now too. You are very good at dialogue and building character. Still loving it.

Woohoo! I hated doing what I did to Neil, but I'm so excited you're warming up more and more to Ray. It's what I hoped for. I wondered if I dug too deep a hole for him to climb out of at the beginning. Yay!

    Thanks, Book!

I'm so mad at myself because I read the next chapter before this one...I was wondering what happened to Neal...Oh well. I did like the graveyard scene and the emotion you put on Amy. The way she cried and tried to laugh at the same time. Good job. I'm going to try to keep the chapters in order from now on. Judy

It's more confusing keeping things straight, reading a novel on a site like this rather than holding the book in your hands. Maybe one day it will be in print. That'll solve the whole problem. LOL (Don't I wish!)

    Thanks, Judy!

Well, you've reall buffaloed me, Marjorie. This is very complicated plotting, but I was sorry to see Neil among the victims of the shenanigans, for I was hoping to see a series of books featuring Ray and Neil, and watch him develop into the good investigator that he could be. Perhaps have Ray reconcile with the wife to whom he is still loyal, unless his loyalty is more to his image of the man he is and that he's determined to remain.

If this first book is a 'hit', it has all the earmarks of a successful series; but perhaps we're just addicts?

With Neil's car burning, I'm impatiently awaiting the explanation for what happened.

I know this came out of L&K, but you may want to take another look at this?

Neil hadn?t had either his siren or lights on. He hadn?t braked where County K met the highway in a ?T? formation.

Hadn't had/had , , , ,Perhaps something on this order?

Neil had neither his siren nor lights on, nor did he brake where County K met the highway in a ?T? formation.

Wonderful stuff, Marjory! Your creativity is evident in every segment, without fail.

All the best, Doris

I've made an appropriate change. It does read better with the revision and I thank you for that as well as the rest of your terrific review, Doris. (My sequel pairs Ray with Dick Waverly in Minneapolis on a case involving one of the remaining characters from this novel. Dick Waverly is quite a character himself in that story.)

    Thanks a million, Doris!

I can't tell you how glad I am that this didn't dissolve into a smarly sex scene. It was sexy enough as you wrote it. Another "couldn't read fast enough" chapter. I do so love your writing. Have you been published?

No, I haven't been published ... yet. LOL Never say die! This book and its sequel are in the hands of an agent, but nothing's come of it yet. Putting this through Lock and Key is the smartest thing I could do. It's sooo much better in its present form. My agent will get the revised copy when it's completed. Everyone's been sensational with their support and help.

    Thanks so much, Chloe.

Hi Marjorie, well that was unexpected, he turned her down. I can see why, but he must be kicking himself too.

I know must men would have just gone with the flow...well a few men anyway.

I will have to wait for the next chapter.

Sarah.

Ray was so angered by his father's infidelity and the harm it caused, that he promised himself he'd never fall into that behavior himself. (And, yes, he is--sort of. LOL)

    Thank you, Sarah.

Marjorie: This is a fantastic, sensitive chapter. I love that Amy has finally admitted her feelings for Ray. Maybe he'll see that he has some worth (besides being honorable) and there might be life after his wife. Now, I want to know if the coroner will be able to see what caused Neil to react the way he did.
