Those few that escaped murder were simple cubs, unable to communicate with their werewolf father.

Please forgive the intrusion, but 'werewolf' is already established; 'half-human'? Something that adds color.

Fascinating tale - "mate for life" sort of dies quietly when Alan agrees to send her away, but it's clear that his ability to sire sons lies among the family canidae.

Nicely done!

Don't be too sure. Although Alan let her leave, he only meant to let her calm down. It doesn't mean he might not go after his lifemate. Thanks for reviewing, Joel.

Hullo Nor84 ....

I am glad you chose to re-post this story which I have not read before and now, having seen your questions in the Notes at the end, may I ask if you have ever published a sequel to this interesting work?
I do like your description of a voice being like
'warm butterscotch pudding."
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love from .... Nanette Mary.

No, I've never published a sequel. It was written for a contest entry, and it won. I intended to continue it, but sort of lost touch with it. I still might, because a lot of people (including you, evidently) seem to want to see more of my werewolf. Thanks for reading and reviewing, as always.

'The Laird of Castle Dun' is a well done story, and you are a master at describing such complicated characters and location for a reader to easily follow. I didn't have to reread phrases to get the true meaning, Nor. That is a fine accomplishment! Marie

So these wolves can be killed by regular bullets. The story is very different. They shift at will and can choose to live like humans most of the time. Well, now I'm curious about whether she will go away.

Well, the wolf that was killed wasn't a werewolf -- just a halfling. Shift at will? Yeah, but full-moon does force a shift. Will she stay? Hmm... I'd have to get back "in the zone" to write the rest. Wish I could think of a plot long enough to drag this into a novel. Thanks. Great review!

I think you can do that. It has very interesting elements.

HI Norma:)
A most unusual werewolf. Allie couldn't have found a safer home than Castle Dun. This is a story well worth reviving,

Long live the The Laird and Lady of Castle Dun, safe from all outsiders. Thank you for reposting your contest winner. I can't vote in the contest, but here are some virtual Irish Hugs in appreciation!

Roger

I hope "yes" to all questions in your author notes. This fantastic story held my attention to the end. The well-written descriptions put the action right on target. The dialogue, and time period hints, put the reader in different places and time periods right along with the characters. A start to a terrific romance novel, hopefully.

Thanks for liking it. Hopefully, if I can get back in "the zone". I intended to take it forward when I wrote it in 2009, but there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.

I do hope you take it forward. It is excellent and most entertaining. You have a winner in the making. MN :)

What a fabulous story - it gripped me right from the beginning.

Considering the topic, it was most un-cheesy and believable.

A really fascinating read. xxx :)

I hate cheesy romance, but I love good paranormal romance. Will have to have the time and the energy to come up with more trouble to drag this out to at least 40K. I wrote it back in 2009, and it's hard to get back "in the zone." Thanks for liking and reviewing it. I appreciate your comments.

I really enjoyed this story, nice use of suspense. However, the story ended very abruptly and in such an odd place, it would have flowed a lot better with one or two more lines of dialogue

You're right, of course, about that ending. I wrote this in 2009, for a contest and didn't bother to revise before reviving it. I had thoughts of continuing it back then, and may do it yet, but too busy right now. Thanks for reviewing.

I loved your description of the castle and how the round tower had crumbled littering the grounds with gray stone. Gripping tale. A long entry but I never noticed since I just kept reading on, wanting to see what would happen in the end.

Yes, it has left me wanting more, more, more. I at least want to know if Allie comes back; Alan has treated her well and saved her from Rizzo. So will there be more??!! l
