Terrible miscarriage of justice, this one. Happened in other places, too. Same as the British government knew of cigs and lung cancer way back in the fifties, but they were earning too much in taxes from smokers to let the cat out of the bag. xxx

And they still scoop the cream off the sales of fags here. Thank you Pattycake, for reading and hope all is well? Love, Kay.

Such horrible tests were conducted in the U.S. too - not something our countries should be proud to share, huh? You tell this horrific story in excellent poetic form, Kay - some people would like to sweep this kind of history under the carpet, but I believe it's so important to remind people of it, and you do it while using the required words from the contest challenge, which is quite remarkable!! Brooke

Thank you my friend Brooke; a story that needs to be told. Not a happy poem but it came together well for the contest. Love, Kay.

Well done, and so sad. What a crazy world we've built. I have three grown children (all in thier 40's) who are just now begining to understand. Now I have 3 small grandchildren and I wonder what their world will be like!

Indeed, what will their world be like? I wish we could turn back time. I don't like this crazy, irresponsible world. Thanks my friend, for reading. Bless you, Kay.

Hullo Aussie ....

This is certainly an informative poem and one that is thought-provoking at the same time. You have good rhyming throughout and your Notes at the end provide information of which I was not previously aware.
As you so rightly say - the lies are told by those who are nowhere near the danger zone ... and the ordinary soldiers and people living in the area are the ones to pay the price in the end.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love from ..... Nanette Mary.

Nanette Mary, Thank you for reading. I try to inform people outside of Australia on events that have happened and are still happening. OZ has its wonders and also its downside. Blessings, Kay.

Hi Kay,

I didn't know the atom bomb was tested in Australia. I found your author's notes to be interesting and they make impact on this poem. You have an engaging rhyme and used the provided words well. I would have never noticed them if I didn't know they were there. An excellent theme for this accomplished poem. Well done and good luck in the contest....blessings, Mazza

What a great use of those words to tell this story of the A-bomb tests and the terrible after effects, especially for the soldiers and the aborigines. This is just a great write, and a story that needs to be brought to the attention of others, to keep it alive, and pray God, this will never happen again.
Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.
Warmest regards, Marijke

We all know the pain caused by Maralinga, but only the traditional owners know the full pain and heartache. They must now face the difficult challenge of moving on with their lives despite adversity.
