God is always at the helm, it just we don't always listen to Him. I understand this had to be an awful time in your life while you waiting for miracle after miracle to save your infant.

Indeed you were my sis and thank God for Johny today , for he has been the saving grace to his wonderful mum time and time again, helping when no others helped, and being the lovable son who just is, and give you no grief other than the occasional raiding of his refrigerator of course... Miracles do happen in life Sis, and I know you will remember that in the future. You only have to think of John, and so many questions can be answered about love, faith, miracles and transfer of energy one to another.. grand story sis, loved it.. hugs always and much luv from your little aussi brat sister .xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello Carol! I enjoyed the monologue style to tell this story of your son and his surgery. The dialogue is powerful and keep the reader in suspense. As a baby nurse, we've had babies go to surgery for a V-P shunt (ventricular-peritoneal--brain ventricle to the belly)May I ask how he got a skull fracture?? Has he had lots of shunt revisions? So many people think miracles can only be a direct intervention from God. I think he takes the indirect route often and guides the hands and minds of doctors and researchers. I'm so glad this experimental surgery was available for your son, Carol!

Hi Carol, You put this one under fiction but wrote it as real life and did a great job with it.
Did you miss the deadline for the writing prompt?

Well done, Buck

A fine piece of writing.
The monologue of the medical team was very good, it explained perfectly everyone's thoughts and feelings.
Very well done.

This was a wonderful creative way to present this surgery. I am a nurse and I was right in the operating room with your descriptions. I have never heard or read about an infants skull being fractured at birth. If it is not too painful for you, I would like to know how this happened. My guess would be forceps.

Desperate situations require desperate measures--glad things turned out well. Clearly written dialog. You did well not to clutter it up with stage direction. It was as stark and precise as the OR. Excellent work.

An excellent piece of writing, short, concise and without the excess baggage of pathos, drama or melodrama. It was precise like the operation.
The doc's dialogues were good.
Breathe, damn it! ....Don't quit on me.-Yeah, I've heard docs saying that. It's a prayer of their kind.
A Great job.

You've done a great job of explaining what is in your heart by envisioning a scene in the operating room. What would we do without these experimental operations - unfortunately they are so necessary.

Very Ernest Hemingway. Some of his greatest work was dialogue alone. However, using only dialogue is a risky venture because there's no backstory or insight on the characters speaking. You have to mold the character's personality to the words. Want to show one character's arrogance towards his work? Have him thinking about things to do after the surgery. Need a nervous nurse? Have her stutter and apologize a lot. You get the nice. Nice job.

Now if you could start reading my book Smoke & Mirrors from the beginning I'd be grateful (I need readers who know the book as a whole instead of a few chapters at a time). Thanks in advance.

    Sefrios,

This was suppose to be entered in a contest that called for MONOLOGUE ONLY. I was not allowed to add anything to it or anyone else's input as well. Thank you for reading...Carol
