This conversation reminds me of so many I myself have had with children where I have inadvertently stumbled upon 'unsolicited' information. You never can tell what you will hear, 'From the mouth of Babes'. Thank you.

My sincere apologies for neglecting to thank you and for copying this message..a house fire on Christmas morning and four surgeries on my honey since November seems to have put the rest of my life on hold..I sincerely appreciate your time and comments...Hope to be back writing soon. This is deeply moving and very well written. You conveyed the beauty and innocence of your granddaughter marvelously. I think you handled the conversation both in writing and in reality, quite well. Very nice work with this one. I found two sentences you may want to look at:

but I let you and Mommy and Daddy live there... should be... you, Mommy, and Daddy ...

"I like it, too." ... Did you mean to say, "I liked it too?...

Oh my. The things we'd rather not know. Sounds like son-in-law has "issues". How does one stay uninvolved? Or, does one? So sorry your granddaughter is in the middle.

Ha ha, funny how some things can slip out of a child's mouth without them meaning to. I liked the way how you only used dialogue, making it original. Excellent job Carol once again, I can find nothing to suggest for improvment, excellent job, keep writing!! :)

Hi Carol, Sounds like you have a son-in-law about like mine. Maybe we should put them together and shoot them. Someday I'll write about but right now I just can't. It's always the kids that get hurt as your story shows. Thanks for posting. Warm regards, Donna

How sad that a son-in-law and father would try to create such a misimpression on his daughter about her grandmother. You do an excellent job in this conversation of revealing what this precious little girl has been told and of setting the record straight. You also do a good job of showing the grandmother's character when she does not just lash out at the little one's father in return. This is quite a compelling story. Brooke

this is very well written, i am glad you were able to have this conversation with your granddaughter. children are the source of some information, some which can shed light on situations and some that are just embarassing.

We all need to listen more to the children. They have imperfect filters sometimes can't help telling the truth. If you want to understand a family, learn for the youngest.
This would have been a great entry in the "Child's Perspective" prompt that I believe is open now. It would also make a good entry in a Dialogue Only contest.
I think your son-in-law needs a good swift kick.

Peace, Lee
