Excellent,. Nancy. Those are always the times. My Steve and I were like teenagers goin' wherever we wanted and livin in 10 acres of forest. There timed we'd bring towels and a bar of soap and bathe in the creek.

We had a warm springs in the Rubies. Ivory soap floats! We also went through a ten year period boating on Lake Meade. We had a Bayliner Cabin Cruiser. Named it the Honeybee. It was yellow, black, and white. We had wonderful times together and with our children. Hard not to miss them huh? Thanks For everything Margie. Nancy

this was a clever little poem here and see you kept your rhyming scheme throughout like below-well done

In our Ford Bronco, with our dog MaGoo
Sometimes we took our young granddaughter too.
We roamed in the desert, followed the maps
Thinking we might find a treasure perhaps

What a beautiful tribute this is to 'a cowboy named Jim.' I love "My heartbeat quickens when I think of him Every time I think of my cowboy Jim". A very special, beautifully rhymed poem about a very beloved man.

Thank you for the review Dawn. I look at that picture every day. It is on a bookcase above me. I decided to write about him. Miss him. If he were here we would still be exploring. He loved to go look for deer and elk and antelope. Instead I am in front of this computer all day. Hugs. Nancy

reply by Ideasaregems-Dawn on 11-Sep-2012
Why don't you go exploring on your own? Just make sure somone knows where you will head and don't change course.

reply by the author on 11-Sep-2012
Wouldn't be the same without him.

We used to pick up a couple of Subway Sandwiches and some Coors for him and Iced tea for me and spend the day out there in the desert. I was always just happy to be with him. Thanks Sandra. Nancy

You should have seen him, he looked so cute. Everyone in the family reminisce about his cut offs & boots with the tops of his tube socks showing and that big ole 357 magnum pistol on his hip. (He had nice legs) It is allowed to carry a gun in Nevada. Or it was. Couldn't be concealed though and you needed a permit. Sidekick, co-pilot. That's what he called me. Thank you , I am so happy you enjoyed my Cowboy Jim. You would have liked him. Nancy

I have heard no one is truly gone as long as there are memories still here. It seems to warm the heart of the writer to have these memories for which I am glad. Witty and enjoyed.

Oh it was. I remember one day we found an old fort. Well the ruins. Made of rocks and adobe. Fort Bravo I think. It was so long ago. Close to the Calif. border. That was amazing! Nancy
