My brother Kevin became a New York Firefighter with only nine months on the job when the roof of a four floor apartment when the ceiling crashed on him and burnt his body beyond the saving of his life. His nick name was KC because his full name was Kevin Charles thus KC. He stayed alive long enough for his parents and four siblings to get to the FDNY burn center to bid him good bye until we again will meet again in heaven. Thank so much for this wonderful review.
    God bless you,
    Ray

What a lovely tribute to those who tried so hard to save your brother. The verse flowed with love and thanksgiving for the living medical staff. You brought out their dedication to the person you loved, but it was his appointed time to live in the above.

I love the poem. I love the author notes. It is terribly sad when we lose a soul that fought on the front lines of home. Police and officers and, fire men lay their lifes on the line each day. They save many souls. Great work.

This is such a beautiful tribute to your departed brother who died so bravely in the line of duty. A wonderful thankyou to those who tried to save him.

Your strength shines through in this writing, as well as the longing for your brother and the wish he could walk upon this earth again.

This was a privilege to read. Cheryl :-)

Grass Upon the Grave

The brave hero in his grave was once spending his life
for the glory of his people.
Blessed be thy trying as your people departed crying for you.

First and foremost, I'm so sorry for your loss.

WOW. This is wonderful and heart breaking and beautiful. I'm so glad that you had caring people trying to help in that difficult time, and I'm glad you are able to recognize that and thank them.

    MelReyn,
My dear lady thank you for your strong, strong review. Yes the staff of the New York Burn Center staff attended to my brother marvelously beyond words. He was a FDNY fire fighter killed in the line of duty in a fire of 9/12/1991.
    Again thank you so much

your poem is a delight to read. It tells of the alliance between brothers in arms and the misery of their passing. The grass signifies time that has past before the memory fades.

    Hi Terry
Nice to hear from you and thank you for the strong review,
A clarification. Mybrothe was a soldier in the US Army. But His death was as a FDNY fire fighter killed in the line of duty on 9/12/1991. The praise of the poem went to the staff of the New York Burn Center. Their attending to my brother for the seventeen hours before his passing was beyond marvelous.

This piece touched me (and probably every one else). Your Author Notes stopped mid sentence, Was your brother a victim of 9-11? Or as a firefighter, was he burned as a result of his job? Still I feel for you and yours. And a salute to the staff at the center.

Your well-written, heart-wrenching poem serves as a moving tribute to your loved one and to the doctors, etc., who spend their lives saving lives.
