    Nancy,
No greater love is there than that of he who lays down his life for another.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know what losing someone feels like.

This is such a great tribute to those that tried in earnest to save your brother's life. It is heart warming that you can see through the grief to say "thanks".

Very well written and I want to thank you for sharing this poem with us,,,,,,Jim

I'm so sorry for your loss. Your poem is a beautiful tribute! It is full of loving expression. I love the first stanza most and think it is most expressive, "There is Grass upon the grave
Of the brother you tried to save
Whose life he so willing gave
In the line of duty brave."

A powerful poem written straight from the heart and with well flowing wonderful rhymes which kept it engaging to the reader, this poem also awakened emotions of sadness. A well written dedicated poem and best of luck.

It makes one sad to remember the lives lost in service
to our country. This brings a touch of solace and has
wonderful rhythm and rhyme. It reads like a sonnet
though I may be wrong. Maybe the Traditional Sonnet.

Thank you very much. Just to clarify, unless I misunderstood your review to mean the death of a soldier, my brother was a FDNY fire fighter.
Also others have said sonnet to me also. I can't bring myself to attempt that because I had the poem cast into a bronze plaque and presented it to the Burn Center staff.
    God bless you,
    Ray

Now I know. Still it is a service to be held in high esteem. It requires commitment an
    fortitude. He is a hero!

Hello, Poet

This is a beautiful, yet sad poem and tribute to your
brother and the medical staff who attended him. Too
often we overlook the medical staff in our time of grief.

Your poem reads smoothly and the end rhymes are strong.
it would not take much work to make this a beautiful sonnet.

Thanks for sharing.
Ray

    Ray,
Thank you for great review. With regard to the sonnet question I have to leave this poem as is. Literally I had it cast into a bronze plaque and presented, it with gratitude, to the to the Burn Center staff. So I feel an obligation to keep the poem as it is.
    God bless you,
    Ray
