The carelessness of the road maintenance due to the local government often remains in total abandoment even famous touring places due to artists' fame or famous people's glory who traveled along them as in the case of Frost's famous poem The Road not taken written in 1916 and this famous road is falling apart and desegregating just like the highway bridge Morandi in Genoa. Great job. Well built, structured throughout and narrated

Hello Wanderlost,
You've written and excellent poem with the mono-rhyme quatrains
and the references to poet's and writer's past.
Alas, greed and indifference seem to rise and fall on a regular basis.
It has been so for many centuries.
You've captured the movement well in your poem
Well done
Robert

This poem really felt like a good, classic poem. You can tell the emotion has been poured into it and a great result was achieved! Great job my friend.

A profound and powerful write and we are often our own worst enemy when it comes to taking care of our land and it is sometimes left barren. I stumbled on the meter in parts and it is hard to match seven syllables unless it is all written with lines of seven. The content is magical though, love Dolly x

I gave 5 stars simply based on all the rhyme. I like rhyme. But, I must admit, I do not understand what you are saying. I can feel the passing of time and that things are not what they once were, but is the broken road a metaphor for all roads? Is all the earth a broken and chained road?

I think that the metaphor may be best left open to the readers inductions... I know I had a specific perspective when I wrote it, but I see now that it can mean many things. Best wishes!

Well done monorhymed quatrains! I read this poem as a commentary on literature - the path of writing, as Shakespeare and Frost are noted. These writers were "once thought a noble race" but "Now privileged ranks control the earth." The conclusion is that there isn't the Eden of a perfect literary world but I hope that the right voice is heard by the right reader. It's that connection that makes it worthwhile.

Love your artwork choice. That's a road that used to be taken but appears to have fallen in disrepair.

Excellent allusions to Shakespeare and Robert Frost, particularly the road not taken.

It's interesting to see that in almost ten years, the original barren lands are still barren.

An excellent social commentary and I like the monorhyme stanzas as it simultaneously promotes the notions of monotony and urgency for the poems tone.

Very enjoyable verse. :)

Gloria

Yeah, the ones in control of the Earth right now are selfish and greedy. I like to think we're not all a bunch of empty-eyed masses living in denial and somehow humanity will come to its senses. If not the end is probably nearer than they think.
