Hi there Kiddo
This reminds me of the time my wife put two boxes of chocolate covered orange sticks in the middle of the tree & our Schnauzer got em & crashed the tree. He ate one full box & had the skeets for a week

This is the first year that I've had a cat in the house. I was so surprised when she crawled under the tree and start to climb up the center. Fortunately I caught her in time or my tree would have met the same fate as yours. This is a sweetly written poem.

hahahahahaha! You have to love it! What a great and witty piece. I love it, I laughed my head off. All animals provide such great writing fodder. Cheers Fez.

barbara:

kittens run up the tree
to play with all the balls
and much to their utter glee
funny noises come when they fall

funny noises come when they fall
from the balls, not from the kits
the tree was twenty foot tall
and scared kittens out of their wits

okay, okay -- it's late and I did lots of tutoring
today plus attended two meetings -- LOL

thanks for sharing
love,
jan

Adorable and with a hint of that playful innocence that kittens often have. Reminds me of my own darling back home. :)

Really like how you subtly link the two stanzas together rhyming 'found' and 'ground' and the consonance with the 'l's in 'fall rolling'. A nice smooth flow; I can just visualise the ornaments rolling to a stop with the masculine rhyme 'ground'.

Great 5-7-5 and a nice little twist at the end :) Thanks for sharing xx

Ah, but at the kitties cute!
A light-hearted piece of verse,
which brought smiles to my lips.

Lovely picture too.

Hi Barbara - I had to smile as I had the exact same condition this Christmas. I don't even own a cat, but the neighbors two hang out over here all the time. Happy New Year to you! Bill

Sounds like you made a play-tower for your kittens when you put up the tree. Cats are notorious for climbing. We had a neighbor's car climb halfway up into the 100' high White Fir tree in our back yard and had to get my son to go up the tree and put it in a burlap sack and lower it to the ground.
Did you take the tree down, or did your kitties topple it?

Thank you for the kind review. The kittens toppled it, so we gave up and put it away.

A lovely poem that made me smile with my morning coffee.
As always well penned.
