Roxane was his delight and unfortunate his plans for her were never realized by Christain. I remember his "ode to a nose"in the duel. You put together a delightful rondelet (in quatrains however) of his attack on a chaste love. I enjoyed the poem very much.

An insightful look at the man and the story. Now that's a true friend, and a good reminder of what friends are really--fore an aft. You were crafting excellent verse years ago (with the emphasis on 'Crafting'). Kenny

Cyrano Scenario - that is very clever (love it!)

you continue to deftly use the rhymes in unpredictable ways...

"of what I speak / deft technique"

and this one is certainly "aptly penned" with a sly cleverness that makes it a very enjoyable read.

So we must add another name ? Hyphenation works in cases like these.Cyrano-Rogue ...add a d' frenchifying is the thing....Cyrano-Rogue de Marillion......now there's a name. And until a new facet of personality arises this will do. Sybil is taken:o)
I enjoyed your twist on the Cyrano scenario..lothario
God bless

Okay this is very funny. I enjoyed your twist on the classic tale. Makes me feel sorry for the poor sap who hired this Cyrano because he doesn't stand a chance of winning the girl's attention and heart, haha. Your rhyming stanzas are great and I especially like (due to the humor) the line "So if I advocate, and earn her kiss,/He'll botch what I achieved with deft technique. I also really liked the irony of Cyrano stating he's just going to be a good friend to his "buddy" by sparing him humiliation and possible rejection by eliminating that possibility altogether. Love the italicized I'll and then the remainder of the line "scale her battlements and win the night". WHAT a friend! With someone like that who needs enemies?! : ))

How could one not love this 'tongue in cheek' piece and I admit I think I like your optional ending and version better.

Gave me a good old grin, thank you for entertaining me this morning - Dinah

Magnificent. You know the St-Exupery play (of course you do!) This is beautifully done, hovering between the self-assurance of an accomplished poet and lover, and the voyeuristic, semi-drakness thing. As for the title ... I just adore your puns!

My friend, I love that play, and your sixer combined with your kind and flattering comments are ALWAYS so appreciated. Many thanks, Mike.

Anthony Burgess, author of A Clockwork Orange (hey - why am I telling YOU?) did a translation of Cyrano a few years back which I thought was sensational. You and I seem to coincide on many topics.

Kindred spirits, my friend, and being a fan of Clockwork Orange, too, I think I'd be VERY interested in Mr. Burgess' version. Thanks!

LOL Well cheats never prosper mate and you know what's gonna happen when Miss Wow wants the schmooze bag to repeat all those sweet nothings and of course he falls flat on his unpoetic face.
Yep...you're IN LIKE FLYNN baby! LOL
This was SO good Dave, some superb lines and although I'm not a fan of being pimped out on demand either you've magically transcended through superb lyrical deftmanship (alright that's a Closet term LOL) to elevate this dumb ass and the massive favour he's asked of you to heights ascending much greater than that balcony on which this beauty is standing. You're admiration from afar is an absolute gift. You should be a wing man more often haha.
You continually astound me with your range and scope and I must relent and give you some six today.
Go on. Have it.
Well done, sirriusly good stuff and I daresay you have well and truly got the Cyrano factor licked. You better tell your mate - to stand by while you make your move. Hey, maybe she has a sister! LMAO
Cheers P

P, you're so awesome in your ability to see through to the core, my friend, and your intelligence is always apparent. I really appreciate the excellent, spot-on thoughts and your sixer (glad management allowed it). :) I think I'll take it from her and let my mate fend for himself. D

I LOVE the tale of Cyrano, and the movie Roxanne, so this is right in my wheelhouse. I really enjoy your version of the tale...as you say, with a twist.
