A wonderful tribute to your Mother and a lovely picture of both your parents. I must imagine that she is as equally proud of you as you are of her.

A standing ovation for your Mother and a virtual 6 for you as I am all out of the real thing I am afraid - Dinah

A mother when she hears such words of cheer
may have no notion why her deeds are grand.
But she'll feel joy to know you hold her dear
and find another way to lend a hand

And what better hero to have but your Mum, David. A touching tribute to her stoicism and strength under duress. I have a Mum very similar...I know I explained my Dad's ailment to you in a review on a post about your wonderful Dad, but when he got cancer she was such a trooper, she wore all the stress and somehow took it in her stride and managed the day to day things without falter. There is SOMETHING very wonderful about Mothers...they have that special way of putting themselves before all others. I only hope I can live up to that expectation.
A beautiful write, perfectly rhymed and I can see they would be proud of their compassionate offspring and the fact he cherishes them BOTH. Well done, my friend.

PS My favourite line was the silver haired halo. Too good.

That means a lot, P. Truly it does. Thank you so much...and I have no doubt that you'll rise to the occasion just like I have and do (in different ways at different times, of course). ;-)

I'm not so sure sometimes David.
Motherhood is a friggin' big ask some days.

You are a fine man to have stepped up to this massive task of carer. I admire you in SO many ways.

What a beautiful tribute to your mom. I hope she's seen this and knows how much you love and admire her. There's no better or more loving gift you could ever give her. And kudos to you, too, for being there for your parents when they need you. Both you and they are very fortunate.

I could not but help letting my heart go out to your sweet, dear, saintly mother. She is good. Your rhyme scheme is very nice and your cadence runs smoothly, and I see no problem to report. Good poem.

What a lovely poem in way
of a tribute to your beloved
mother - she sounds a real
gem - and they look to be
such a loving couple.

you are lucky and so are they, having you - just as caring.

Definitely not enough 6s for the talent that is on this site. A virtual one my friend.

Beautiful, emotional tome to your mum. And how terrific of you to not only tell her but to share with your virtual friends here. The photo is something I am sure you cherish - and should.

Favorite line: Of one diminished by her sacrifice,

That says so many more things than the 6 words on paper. How wonderful of you to realize that.

Blessings. AT=/

Nice Poem. I love it and it is written well. A wife who is
now worn by years and is more in a position to take care of her crippling husband, The picture supplements the theme of the poem. Touching and penetrating. I sympathized with the kinds of situation the couple are into. Congratulations. Dom

Our mothers deserve to be ALL our heroes, David, as they are angels and completely irreplaceable.

I'm not sure if the 'crippling debt' is either financial or emotional, but that doesn't matter much to the reader and makes him think.

Terrific, though sad, imagery, and a so-loving tribute to a special lady.

Best wishes, Ted

Poignant and powerful commentary on care-giving and a wonderful tribute to your mom--who looks saintly indeed. My mom also took care of my dad through Parkinson's (with dementia) and I came to help her as well, for the last six months before he passed, and four months the year before that. She almost died, herself, from the strain of her sacrifice. It was intense.

Great flow and rhyming, and imagery, too... especially loved this line:

Her shadow drags just like a burdened saint.

Superb phonetics, especially the alliteration ad consonance of S, and especially in this eloquent phrasing here:

She wears the mantle?stooped in silhouette?
Of one diminished by her sacrifice,

Wish I had a six.

Love,
rd

Thank you so much, my very understanding friend. I know you "get" it, too. Not many people comprehend the challenge of the caregiver.

As always, I love your thoughts and attention to detail. I'll take the virtual sixer and hold it close to my heart. :)
