I need to tell you how much I enjoyed your poem "'Heaven Can Wait'". It is very inspirational but very melancholy. From the beginning we see a crest fallen spirit but as we traverse into the middle of the poem you use God's handiwork of rain to encapsulate and reveal the depths of despair the forgotten mourner goes through. "Loss" is a subject that is familiar to all of us and one we can't ignore. You have showed us the underbelly of the struggle of a son and the internal struggle understood only by the comrade in arms. Thank God for HOPE!
May God Bless you,

Thank you so much for that great review. I am overjoyed at the response. Yes the depth is somewhere only the reader is able to gauge. and we all seem to feel and know it if in connection with it.
    Thank you so much.
    Best wishes.

Another melancholic chapter in your book. It is sad, but positive, and I think your poetry can also reflect a more cheerful tone now, as you say you never give up and know there are others to reach out to. My past is not very cheerful, but I have now left it all behind and only see the joy of Nature outside, and how it thrills me and inspires my words. You don't have to take my suggestion, hope you didn't mind me saying this. Your poetry is lovely, great rhyming and imagery. Most enjoyable as always. Faye

Yes. I don't know if you knew, Faye, but 'The Different Faces of Love'' i primarily about the sides of love we do not readily associate with love or we try to swerve, yet there is still a connection to the word. We think of flowers and chocolates , but there is a more somber side to love also...as well as a dark side which I didn't want to take up, but may do in the future. Its ironic that when I thought of this book, I already had the title to the second book of poems, which is called '' Joy'' so there will be a different subject matter which needs no introduction.

    Best wishes,
    RG

"The rains serenade the winds disdain." What a magnificent image worthy enough to grace any poem. This poem is full of pathos. Aren't we all doomed to seek our salvation. What is the alternative? We are all sensitive. We are cowered and resort to dependance on others and on our fate which all amounts to fear and guilt. But this is a song to the most touching of relationships, that unforgiving bond between mother and son. In sum, it is a most poignant piece. -Ekim777

this is a tragic little story with a hopeful twist in the end. why is it that we don't reach out to touch another soul when we are all alike in that we love, hope, believe and fear. we are all humane and should show compassion like christ.
thank you for sharing dear rg!

Dear RG...this is as good as the first one which got my vote for poem of the month. Your word choices combine in rhyme and rhythm which make the reader feel this pain of loss. I loved you last stanza where the child is addressing "mamma". He reassures her that he will live his life...lovely, my friend. Are you publishing? You should.

Hi RG, this is another wonderful poem, written and narrated by you with your very soothing voice. The loss of a mother especially at a vulnerable age leaves a sadness, just as you have expressed in your poem.

Mother, I cry like the slaughter of sheep

Well done, I enjoyed it.

Ps, Congratulations on your win for Poem of the month, it was a deserved win.

Mary

The photo complemented well the message of your poem. Yes it is true we all have some affinity with our mothers, that in our days of grief, depression or deep sorrow we cleave on to our mother and call for their help. It is perhaps a sign of deep love and respect or a bond that cannot be severed. Thanks for sharing this poem. God bless.

Hi,
Been a while. I sit here listening to an older Steely Dan album. Your first stanza is...almost paralyzing. The sadness that emanates from it resonates deeply with me. Too deeply for only personal cognition, I'm afraid you've tapped into something far more buried in our psyches.

"Mother I cry like the slaughter of sheep."
II don't know what to say...it burns. Burns deep within me somehow.

Jesus H. Christ...this is soo good.

love,

victor touche

You, my friend, have risen to a higher rung on the ladder of creative expression than most of us. Yes, "Heaven can wait," if we but take the extended hand of a loved one, or friend, when we reach the depths of despair. Bless you!
