I enjoyed this little poem on Australia. Never been down under always filled with wonder the stories I here of the nation a long way from here (USA). I read and almost felt your enthusiasm for your country. I love mine as well as you. Patriotism is a gift. All the best and God Bless

Great poem. I've recently had the pleasure of meeting an extraordinary woman from your wonderful Country. Consequently, I have a certain fascination with your take on English! Simply a great read and this American loves Australia.
Maybe someday I will see her first hand. Take care. Bruce.

Hello Bruce, A famous poet once penned : I love a sunburnt country, a land of sweeping plains. Of rugged mountain ranges of droughts and flooding rains. I love her far horizon, I love her jewel sea - her beauty and her terror the wild brown land for me. Just a taste for when you visit. Thank you for reading!.

Aussie, I love this! Thanks for the notes to educate one such as I. I grew up in rural so I know how bored a person can get and do things for fun that no one else would find fun. I like the dry sense of humor. Those who have broken from the Royal Reign must be type A personalities and risk takers. No wonder I love the Aussies. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

G'day GA, Glad you loved it. We still are under the thumb of HRH still a country tied to England. I think it's time and the new royals are not so stuffy as the old. I like Queenie but she has had her day on the throne. LOL. Kay.

You tell a good story about "down under" but if you really mash up a potato with a fly I will disown you. You must have a seasonal problem with black flies as we do, Hear they bite. Oh I see dead fly = pie. Now I catching on. You Australians are known for you sense of humor. Hello Crocodile Dundee you have a good script writer in this girl. Love Alan

Alan, we are a nation of pies and peas with mashed potato! The flies and mozzies have landing lights here - you could try a 'floater' pie in a bowl upside down covered with peas. Thanks for reading my friend :-0

Loved this as it gave me an idea of your celebration. Ours is on July fourth with hotdogs, bear and fireworks. What day is Australia day? Sounds a bit rowdy.

G'day my friend and thanks for reading; rowdy is right. Cookouts in every town and home, beer flowing well, family time and awards given to special Australians. Also, migrants are made Australians by taking the oath. Blessings. Kay. XX

Oh, for gosh sakes, yes! Happy Australia Day. You enjoy such a romp with your poem and it makes the reader want to romp along with you. Only the cane toad-- you didn't explain what a cane toad was.

Americans wanna know.

Meanwhile, God Bless you, Kay. You and your poochmate enjoy your day and life!

G'day Jay! Cane toad was imported in the seventies to eradicate the cane beetle that was eating our sugar cane. They were the worst toads to bring here because they bred like bunnies and spread to two states. They spit poison when threatened and will kill a dog in twenty minutes. Nowadays, the poison is being extracted and used in pain-killer meds. The toads are put in the middle of a ring and the first toad to reach the side of the ring is the winner. People bet on the toads by number! Thanks for enjoying, Jay, we do kill them by freezing and their skins go to wallets. :-)

Oi, Oi to you too! I liked your humorous take and the slang touch.
A fun rhyme thanks for sharing.
I like the "Australians are many colours, without the blush"
