I do hate when I miss such gems as this. Truly a splendid entry and deserving of high placement ... even higher than you had. ;] . i love the delightful image you selected and your few words manage to 'say' so much more. i always enjoy alliteration - 'hand/hand', 'match/made'. you also create a lovely chuckle, first at the sweetness of the image conjured in our minds and then secondly, as the reader who identifies closely with your first two lines ... remembers that soapy baths follow all childhood adventures, or at least a good hand wash. lol Delightful. Warm hugs - Lovi xoxo
This is spunky and sweet. Sounds just like it is spoken by a grandmother. My precious granddaughter is on the move from dawn till dusk. Has a pretty well set bedtime so she can get up and start it all over again.
Your poem is perfect from picture to # of syllables.
Best wishes in the contest. You placed! Oh, I see that now.
Hi Dawn :) Congratulations in your joint 3rd placing in the contest. Your 5-7-5 is lovely, and in my opinion, better than the other entries that placed!
Good use of alliteration and enjambment, love the humour in your observation!
Well done :) Kindest regards, Debra x

Thank you so much, Debra! I had no idea until I read this - as I have only one hour at the library (my pc is still in for repair and will be for at least a week). I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thrilled at the news. :)

It's nice to be the bearer of good news for a change! I hope your PC is soon mended x
Oh my how I love this picture, it reminds me of all my sweet wonderful granddaughters. But even more of my grandsons, in the fact about washing hands. But all children just don't realize the importance of clean hands I guess.
and children go hand in hand
a match made for soap
You are so right, Dawn -
they do go hand in hand - I just love the innocence
of little ones. We had to vote today and it was at the
village school - through the window we were able to see the little ones sitting at their desks and behaving like little angels - for now!!
