I know this is a contest, I know this is the 'Finish the Chapter' and that is supposed to be that, but can't you carry on with it anyway?? It is a brilliant contest entry, you write these stories so well, I want to know more, a lot more!! The thought of the dead baby talking to her dad, asking him why he hurt her, was just mind blowing. Good luck in the contest, my friend! :) Sandra

Hey, sorry for the delayed reply, Sandra. I got a little bit behind in my replies. I've been dong quite a bit of writing lately...

I've been considering continuing this. Is all depends on how it does in the final voting as to whether or not that will happen.

However, that does in no way means that I don't appreciate you reading this, and your exceptional six star rating. That's very kind of you, and I'm really happy to know that you enjoyed this twisted terror tale.

    Take care, my friend...

Well, now I have another book to follow...your new one...and I will. The action in this flows smoothly and holds reader's interest throughout. There is also an easy to follow story line going on here. Write on.

Well, so much for that - I'm going back to not entering contests (LOL) - too much reviewing involved and I just don't stand a chance with this kind of competition. This is excellent, Dean. It played like a movie in my head as I read.

I guess he was going to call 911 for the bodies he found there and hadn't planned to kill himself - question remains, how did those bodies wind up in their cabin?

It ain't over til the weight challenged lady sings soprano, Dawn (You're not permitted to say "fat lady" any longer. It isn't politically correct). I read your entry as well if you recall. James and the black-Ops, spy type thriller... remember? Don't sell yourself short, I thought it was an outstanding story of espionage and intrigue. Besides, horror rubs a lot of people the wrong way, and I fully understand the risks involved when entering a horror story into the mix.

Still, I'm very happy to know that you enjoyed the twisted tale, and that you feel it's good enough to compete. As for winning, well...that still remains to be seen. There are a lot of excellent entries in this contest, including your own.

Thanks for your wonderfully encouraging comments and generous six star rating. As always, I sincerely appreciate them, and you...

Ah, ignore me - I'm just feeling morose (again). I 'm not the chipper, always-happy gal my writing reflects a lot of the time, but when I posted stuff (reflecting the mood I AM in at times - life is NOT a 'bowl of cherries'), I took a pretty bad emotional beating for it, so I don't post everything I write here anymore. I figure, who needs the BS? I have enough to feel crappy about. LOL.

Haven't you noticed - I said horror was a genre I enjoy, and enjoyed writing sometimes - I rarely do now - I was really insulted over it too many times, like there's something wrong with me that I can even CONCEIVE of such things. (Oddly enough, those same people have turned around and started writing in similar genres, after not having done so before. Hypocritical, if you ask me - and more.) Anyhow, FS, as much as I love it, is NOT the only place to get feedback, thankfully.

So that's my story - I am as complex as the next person, NOT the simpering airhead I sometimes feel a few folk want to believe I am. Thanks for the words of encouragement, Dean - you can never know how much they're appreciated. (What a world!)

You've never come across as an airhead to me, Dawn. And you are more than welcome, my friend. I know what you mean about those who denounce those of us who try and write entertaining horror stories and what they themselves also write. Hypocritical is putting it rather mildly, don't you think? Heh-heh...

This type of story is right up your alley... Dean, I doubt that anyone will come close to topping this one. You are a talented writer... and shock and awe is your forte. I clung to the edge of my chair the entire way through the story. However, I scratched my head with the ending... But what can I say, it's nearly impossible to critique someone of your caliber. Best wishes in the contest... I enjoyed the story. K. Lorraine

Very nice. I like how to the prompt to a dark place, added a hint of justice and ended the chapter with a mystery and a hint of a larger story to come. Perfect. The Note was great too.

Your word choices and descriptive scenes make me feel as if I'm right there in the moment. Watching every detailed action as they happen, seeing those hollowed crazy eyes. Those you never even had to mention. Great job. :-)

Spellbinding. The end of the chapter makes you want to start immeidately on the next page. I love thrillers that grab your attention and keep it. The contest is met very well I think and this is the makings of a good story. The cliff hanger at the end of the chapter is intriguing

This is yet another interesting story or rather a start to a story that the author has created with this piece of work. You are proving to be very versatile indeed. Well done.

Hi Dean, wow! What a truly frightening story, Voices from the past, an unborn baby, all dead and all great ingredients for a wonderful bone chilling story my friend. I truly wish you the best of luck with this brilliant entry.

Very interesting response to the prompt, and quite interesting. It certainly sets up a sequel, or at least a continuation of the story. Got to wonder what had happened before that made this scene not as surprising as it might otherwise have been.
