Hi Rose,

Yes, I think we all miss Brooke's wonderful sense of humor and solid critique of our work. I hope we get her back soon, however, I am happy to hear she will be moving in with her family out here in my neck of the woods; California...although her address will be about an eleven hour drive from my home...so no drop-ins, that's for sure :)

Nice work with this Rondeau as it expresses, perfectly, our sentiment...well done, my friend.

Just2Write: Excellent Rondeau! I think of you both. I like the rhymes and author's notes for the newbies. I like your thoughts on the R refrain. I learn so much from you and will try one soon. You both make words flow in poetry seem easy. I know that this takes time and Brooke would say sometimes a hour per stanza. I write, cross out, circle, count and rewrite. I appreciate you.

How is Canada with the fires? People see the haze in Denver and Southern Minnesota. What happened and are you safe? The air must be hard to breath is areas in the states have orange and red ozone alerts. We had the alerts in Dallas years ago when we lived there. So, stay at home. We went swimming. I always try to make lemonade out of lemons.

I'm sure that your beautiful poem will touch Brooke's heart. We will pray for a speedy recovery. We are going to see my mom soon. God bless. flylikeaneagle

    What a lovely newsy Review, Nancy. Thank you so much. Yes, the air-pollution has been bad here for a few days now. The wind is blowing the smoke from the forest fires all over the continent it seems. We are not in any danger of fire right now. You don't really notice how bad the smoke is, until you realise that you can't see the mountains anymore. The woods throughout Canada are tinder-dry. Our area has not had rain since April or so. I usually hate rain - but even I recognise that without it, it's going to be pretty parched. Rose.

A truly wonderful reminder of how outwardly strong Brooke is. Only she can know the turmoil within and I am sure is leaning hard on the support these poems are giving her

A nice rondeau dedicated to Brooke :) I'm sure she will like it. The rondeau is my favorite of all the fixed forms of poetry. You have nice rhymes. Great meter. I like your repeating line. This site isn't the same without Brooke here :(

This is a wonderful tribute to Brooke - she has touched so many lives.

The rhythm is so soothing, sort of reflecting a warm spring day with a gentle breeze. And your words reflect my thoughts and, I'm sure, that of many others. I once said to her I didn't know what FS would be like without her...now I do.

Her daughter lives in California and perhaps it's a blessing in disguise that she will now be living close to her beloved grandson, Sawyer. God does work in mysterious ways. Hugs, Lou

    There was a FS before Brooke - and it was also good. We may feel a little lost without her, but until she returns, we must find our way forward. She will be the first to say that there are many talented writers here. They just have to rise to the occasion.

I had not heard anything for a while about Brooke, I am glad she is recovering and will be moving closer to her family. Very nice tribute to Brooke, with excellent rhyming and sentiment. One thing, in verse 3, it should read point of view. Most enjoyable, Rose, hope you are doing ok. Faye

    Dang! I thought I had fixed that line. I'm dyslexic - and the reversal of the word order is a prime example of what I need to watch for on a constant basis. Thanks for the sharp eye and the great review.
    Both Brooke and I have been off battling dragons. I hope to hear how she is doing soon. As for me, I kicked butt with my dragon, but I don't know if I killed him off, or if he is just somewhere licking his wounds. For now, each day is better than the one before - which is good. But, I wish that the healing time was not so s-l-o-w.

This is beautiful, Rose, and I'm sure she agrees. I miss Brooke a lot. She was a staple here, a leader and a friend to all. Why do the worst things happen to the nicest people? I hope she improves with therapy enough to get back to writing and will come back to us soon. :)
