    Brooke does that to people - she encourages fledgling writers to try their wings. She certainly did that for me. Never critical, but full with constructive critique - There's a fine line there, and Brooke is always firmly on the bright side of it.
    She has a marvellous way of befriending everyone and making each one feel that they are someone special to her - and you know what? I think that she's discovered a great secret - Everyone is! Thanks for the great review, Debbie.

    Thank you for the excellent review, Linda. I know that you are no stranger to adversity either. I really appreciate your kind words - It's been a tough year, but I'm on the mend now, and hope that Brooke will soon be back into the swing of things as well. Rose.

I really enjoyed this poem for Brooke, Just2Write. I know she will love it too. Like you, I have missed our #1 poet so much. Whenever I posted a poem, she was usually first to review it. Always kind and helpful. I hope for her full recovery, for the time when she can come back to us. It's like she has left us stranded here. I never knew she was ill.
This is a wonderful tribute to her.
"When I see flowers adorned with dew -
I think of you."
Thanks for sharing!
cheers

    Thank you Kimbob: I always marvelled at how soon after I posted that Brooke would open and review my writing. I really miss that first out of the gate review from her that told me everything was going to be alright. Brooke is still #1 - Quite a feat, considering that she hasn't posted since May! Thanks for a great review. Rose.

Ha, this is beautiful, Rose. I knew you would find your words and boy, when you find your words, you really find them.

I absolutely love the uplifting opening lines, I think of you when skies are blue. You're like the sunshine pouring through -- Yes! you couldn't have put it more perfectly.

Your whole Rondeau is it? LOL --is stunning. Seriously I am still learning so much about poetry, so I much appreciate all my FS friends who have helped me out. And, Brooke most definitely has been right up there in the helping out department, although she might not have known how much, because I mostly learn by observing and imitating others I admire. Did I say that out loud?!

Brooke is going to love this, just as much as the rest of us. Polliwogs you say? You've got to be kidding me! I love polliwogs.

Super job with this tribute, Rose and as always from your pen, perfectly written.

Gloria

    Gloria - Thanks so much for this dazzling six star rating, and for your wonderfully uplifting review. Yes, indeedy - this is a Rondeau. I love trying the many different types of form poetry - but I have an especially soft spot for Rondeau - One of my (and Brooke's) favourites. Many of the French forms are almost musical, because of the repeating lines or phrases. That is why they were so popular back in the day. Wandering minstrels would write poetry to be accompanied with their lyre (hence the word lyrics) Because of the rhymes and music, folks would remember them and pass them along. Like you, I learned much from Brooke by using one of her poems as a guide, then writing something similar in my own words. I do the same with the classic poets - so they too have taught me much. Brooke and I share a delight in interesting words - Polliwog is one of them. Both the word and the creature are delightful to discover. Rose.

This was a beautifully written Rondeau, Rose. Not only is it a well composed, wonderfully presented piece of poetry, the genuine sentiments you express in having written it are heartwarming and real.

Brooke will loves this when she gets an opportunity to read it, as I'm sure anyone else who's taken the time to read it does as well.

Great work, and thanks for sharing your talent with us.

    Awww - thank you, Dean. I do hope that Brooke will have an opportunity to read the greetings and poems that are being written and posted here for her. She has no access to computer right now, so it's up to her daughter to share them with her, which I'm sure would be a daunting task, considering the sheer number of them.
    Glad you liked this Rondeau, my friend.
    Rose.

reply by Dean Kuch on 06-Jul-2015
    I've no doubts that would be a very large task, Rose. And you, my friend, are very welcome. :}

    Yes, Sasha - Brooke loves this French form, and has written many fine examples herself. I hope she gets access to a computer soon and is able to read all the wonderful sentiments from her marvellous friends and fan base here at FS. Rose.

What a nice poem to honor your friend Brooke. Is she doing better? I don't know her but I keep reading about her, she sounds like a beautiful person. Good job!

    I hope that I will know the answers to your question soon. I see that you joined FS in April of this year, so it is understandable that you don't know Brooke. Her most recent post was in May. She is a fantastic poet, and a teacher here at FS - and her flawless, upbeat writing has been such an inspiration to aspiring writers. A beautiful person is a great definition of who she is. Thanks so much for stopping by and reviewing this Rondeau. Rose.

I'd like to be much more like you;
to share your joyous of point view;
and laugh when I'm in fate's embrace
or when I meet it face to face.
When I see flowers adorned with dew -
I think of you.

What a simply lovely poem as a tribute to
"our Brooke" - she'll love it, Rose.
She's still recovering, but I've heard no
more than that from her daughter.

How are you, my friend? Have you read the poems written for you?

Margaret

    Thank you for reading, and for your great review.

    I saw a posting in the Forums from Brooke's daughter that Brooke is still in hospital, and that Brooke will be moving to California, I'm presuming that she will be leaving hospital care at that point, but I'm not sure. I also read that Brooke is bored and does not currently have an access to computer.

    As for me, I'm doing pretty good. It's been a long road, but it's not as tough as I imagined it might be. I think I have read and written a review for each of the poems in the multi-author book written for me. The book was a wonderful surprise and really brightened my spirits when I got home from hospital. R.

    You were missed Rose - and it's good to hear you're doing well.

    Brooke's had a long haul of it - but wants to live nearer her family, which will mean the world to her.

reply by the author on 06-Jul-2015
    She certainly has had a long haul - but she is the eternal optimist - which means everything when one is battling their dragons. I know that she will be giving her all into getting better. R.

Ah Rose - this is lovely and nice to see Brooke's name on the FS pages. I was thinking we have not heard anything about her of late and your lovely poem is keeping her presence alive on these pages. Line 4 stanza 1 - insert 'a' before 'happy, and Line 2, stanza 3 insert 'of' before view - tiny typos. Otherwise, this is a very well written and thoughtful poem for Brooke Warm regards Dorothy x

    Oh my Goodness - How did I miss those? Thanks for the sharp eye and for not 'dinging' me on your rating. I've fixed the typos now. Brooke has been in my thoughts for quite some time. It took me awhile to write something for her 'Get Well Book' because my mind has been mush lately, and I wanted to write something that would please her. I finished yesterday, and noticed a note in the Forums from her daughter, Miranda today. Good timing, I guess. I Rose.
