Rating of Chapter 94 - For Our Ms. Brooke
|
Ha, this is beautiful, Rose. I knew you would find your words and boy, when you find your words, you really find them.
I absolutely love the uplifting opening lines, I think of you when skies are blue. You're like the sunshine pouring through -- Yes! you couldn't have put it more perfectly.
Your whole Rondeau is it? LOL --is stunning. Seriously I am still learning so much about poetry, so I much appreciate all my FS friends who have helped me out. And, Brooke most definitely has been right up there in the helping out department, although she might not have known how much, because I mostly learn by observing and imitating others I admire. Did I say that out loud?!
Brooke is going to love this, just as much as the rest of us. Polliwogs you say? You've got to be kidding me! I love polliwogs.
Super job with this tribute, Rose and as always from your pen, perfectly written.

Gloria - Thanks so much for this dazzling six star rating, and for your wonderfully uplifting review. Yes, indeedy - this is a Rondeau. I love trying the many different types of form poetry - but I have an especially soft spot for Rondeau - One of my (and Brooke's) favourites. Many of the French forms are almost musical, because of the repeating lines or phrases. That is why they were so popular back in the day. Wandering minstrels would write poetry to be accompanied with their lyre (hence the word lyrics) Because of the rhymes and music, folks would remember them and pass them along. Like you, I learned much from Brooke by using one of her poems as a guide, then writing something similar in my own words. I do the same with the classic poets - so they too have taught me much. Brooke and I share a delight in interesting words - Polliwog is one of them. Both the word and the creature are delightful to discover. Rose.

This was a beautifully written Rondeau, Rose. Not only is it a well composed, wonderfully presented piece of poetry, the genuine sentiments you express in having written it are heartwarming and real.
Brooke will loves this when she gets an opportunity to read it, as I'm sure anyone else who's taken the time to read it does as well.
Great work, and thanks for sharing your talent with us.

Awww - thank you, Dean. I do hope that Brooke will have an opportunity to read the greetings and poems that are being written and posted here for her. She has no access to computer right now, so it's up to her daughter to share them with her, which I'm sure would be a daunting task, considering the sheer number of them.
Glad you liked this Rondeau, my friend.
Rose.

I've no doubts that would be a very large task, Rose. And you, my friend, are very welcome. :}

I'd like to be much more like you;
to share your joyous of point view;
and laugh when I'm in fate's embrace
or when I meet it face to face.
When I see flowers adorned with dew -
I think of you.
What a simply lovely poem as a tribute to
"our Brooke" - she'll love it, Rose.
She's still recovering, but I've heard no
more than that from her daughter.
How are you, my friend? Have you read the poems written for you?
Margaret

Thank you for reading, and for your great review.
I saw a posting in the Forums from Brooke's daughter that Brooke is still in hospital, and that Brooke will be moving to California, I'm presuming that she will be leaving hospital care at that point, but I'm not sure. I also read that Brooke is bored and does not currently have an access to computer.
As for me, I'm doing pretty good. It's been a long road, but it's not as tough as I imagined it might be. I think I have read and written a review for each of the poems in the multi-author book written for me. The book was a wonderful surprise and really brightened my spirits when I got home from hospital. R.

You were missed Rose - and it's good to hear you're doing well.
Brooke's had a long haul of it - but wants to live nearer her family, which will mean the world to her.

She certainly has had a long haul - but she is the eternal optimist - which means everything when one is battling their dragons. I know that she will be giving her all into getting better. R.
