The Beauty of a Brook
To me, the sonnet is the most challenging of the verse forms. Even the great Bard cheated on the syllable count. But Brooke played havoc with it. I think she instinctively depended on her ear for the music of the language. I think after the second verse our poet abandons the stage with his fantasies to make way for some remarkable images. "But every beauty sometimes dons a scar./" This reminds me of Schiller's wise words; " Beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror/" Meanwhile we all wait impatiently for the lady to return to the stage. "For the beauty of a Brooke will never end."-Ekim777

I'm sure Brooke gets all the powerful vibes that have been sent to her these last few weeks - this is lovely!

Just one typo, and a couple of subject/verb agreement issues:

and In(in) her pools refects(reflect) the changing sky.

With bursts of bubbles spills(spill) her tales of lore

Minor stuff! :)Sharyn

Ha-ha-ha. I think Brooke will enjoy this. It's perfect for anyone who has to spend time in bed.
Laid and Raid are the perfect rhyme for the demise of the bed bugs.
I always love your tongue in cheek humor.

Very cute and I loved the references you used to tell of the little bugs.
Thought of her and all the wiritngs we got to see.
And we enjoyed the simplicity of the piece as it is great for cildresn.
Nicely done

Ha-ha! Well, from what I've heard, Charlie (and thank goodness I've never found this out on my own!), the fast pacing of each stanza of your itchy little "warped" countdown poem is perfect in relation to how the little suckers breed and multiply so rapidly.
Brooke will get a kick outta this one I think, lol.

This poem didn't "bug" me at all, Charlie. I felt it was a nice change of pace from the lighter, fluffy countdown poems of late. Good work. :)

First, we are all praying for Brooke. Your pun/poem is a fine tribute to her dedication of this site. As the running waters of a brook, Brooke is clear in her reviews and refreshes me with the "comma for direct address" mistakes.

Nicely done... John

I can hear them now talking to Raid. This stuff just kills me. LOL. Good one, Charlie. Really miss Brooke and her comma pen.
