I just gave out my last six, but I have two points to get to 36 so ... into your morbid musing, I must go. :P This was pretty morbid but so spooky, I loved it!!! :) I really want to hear a spooky ghostly story from you.

I was working on one for my contest, Rasmine.
But I was told by a few that if I entered they would not.
So, for the greater good of the contest, and in hopes of gaining more entries, I vowed to stay out.
Since the contest doesn't appear to be close to filling up anytime soon, I am just about ready to break that promise, come what may.
    Have a nice Memorial Day.

A great title choice and perfect image.
What a horribly sad tale which grabbed my interest early, held it, and sustained it until the end.
if is amazing what the mind comes up with- rather frighgening when it is said that truth is stranger than fiction.
Good luck in the contest.
:-) Shirley

This reminds me a great deal of Hank Snows song, "Miller's Cave." The writing is superb in that it carries you through on its own seductive merit. The measurement of a haunting story lies in the ability of the reader to believe, in an imaginative way, the story is true..........or has actually happened. The flow of the work defies pause...... you need to read the next line without thought of the previous.
I don't know if the picture is a photograph or pencil art, but it doesn't really matter............it almost tells the story without any words.
Great Job.

Thank you for you comments, esacony.
While this story itself is fictitious, it is based on actual events. In the early 60's, when I was around six-years-old, a little girl near my Great Grandma Cook's house went missing, in Whitesburg, KY. She was found a year later in the nearby town of Saylersville, washed ashore along the Licking River. I've never forgotten that little girl and the profound effect it had on me. It was my first real experience with death. I'd played with her a time or two, but can't recall her name. I believe it was Charlotte, hence my reasoning for using that particular name in my poem.
Thanks again for the exceptional six star rating, and your complimentary comments. All are sincerely appreciated.
    ~Dean

It's always a pleasure to disappear into written work that allows you the privilege to do so........that pertains to the reader as well as the writer.
I sense a commonality of experience and expression between us.........or an out of the box thought pattern (sugarcoated description).LOL.
    Be Well,

Good poem. I was surprised by the music. You spun a good tale. Best of luck to you in this contest. I'm sure others will enjoy your poem.

Thanks. You give four stars but no suggestions for improvement, or why you feel it is average?
Nice, you must be a newbie. You have much to learn, grasshopper...

Just had to read a horror poem by the famed Dean Kuch!
Wow, so amazing--Edgar Allen Poe arisen to haunt us!
The care taken here with the the presentation of the poem, the visual presentation, the audio effects, the rhyme, meter, and theme working together so perfectly is impressive.
Just a couple of punctuation concerns (poetry has so little margin of error):

The Slaughter(.)" (end punctuation inside quotation marks by convention).
(B)ible at his side (the JudeoChristian Bible is capitalized).
Thanks so much for sharing this:)
Best,
Stacia

Thanks so much for the six stars and wonderfully complimentary comments, Evi. After receiving my first four star review for this from another...reviewer...it couldn't have come at a better time.
Thanks again. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. ~Dean

I don't know why you would get four stars. Your writing is always excellent. Every once in a while I do get 4 stars myself. I don't mind, but the reasons given are not really helpful; sometimes I don't understand the reasons. Constructive criticism is good, but some of the comments are beyond human comprehension. Evi

reply by the author on 10-Jun-2015
They offered no reason at all, nor did they offer any suggestions for improvements. They said it was very good, in fact.

    Here's the review...

Nice job with your story. I also liked the music. Your notes were very helpful; however, I was sorry that FS does not provide the opportunity to put them at the beginning. Thanks for sharing. T2

Thanks, Terror2s. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and comments with me about my poetic effort.

Many times, the authors here will notify the reader at the beginning of their poem or story to ** Please read author's notes first **, if they feel there is something that needs explanation to understand the piece. I didn't feel any additional explanations were necessary. My information simply explains a couple of southern euphemisms, and they aren't really an integral part of the story itself.

Thanks again for reading. It is appreciated. ~Dean Kuch

Definitely, an awesome poem. It flowed very good, and the way you tell the story, and the world make it creepy as hell to read. Well done.

You are even scary colloquially, in fact you're so talented you're scary. I should not over indulge you with wonderfulness, you may have to screw your head off to fit through the door:)

Hah, ha, not me, gypsymoth, not ever. I fully realize that we are only as good as our last post. Getting a big head or inflated ego just ain't my style. In fact, I loathe people like that myself. No, I just go "out there" and put my best effort forward, just as we all do. I've just had quite a few years of experience at writing. Although, I must admit, I'd never written my first poem until I came here to FanStory in March of 2013. A member by the name of Gungalo (may she rest in peace) took me under her wing and taught me everything she knows about presentation, meter and rhyming. Now, I just try to honor her memory by doing the same for others, just as she did for me.
Thanks you very much for your review. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time...~Dean

This is another great poem my friend. If my writing is a bit funny, I apolizise. My computer broke and I have to use a borrowed old one until it is repaired. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.
