Hi Mystic. Wow..What a write! I can definitely relate to seeing the children smile when giving them candy. The formatting was great; green to represent the commandments of life. Take care and cheers.

Hi Monica,

I certainly appreciated the meditative quality you gave this wonderful Haibun style prose.
Your connecting haiku's were very appropriate to the intent of each stanza and complimented each well.
I also enjoyed your thoughts about how to approach life, with all of its challenges...very good advice! A smile and nod can be contagious...some people just need a nudge in the right direction:)
Nice job with this entry...looks strong!
My best for its success,
Bill

I enjoyed your lovely haibun from start to finish. Excellent job and a fine way to live without regret or omission. You stressed gratitude for the good things we have and passing on to others the kindness within us. A wonderful recipe for living a fulfilling life. Marilyn/BeasPeas

Thank you very much, Marilyn! I am thrilled you enjoyed this as it was fun to write - like a journal entry which I totally love posting in my gratitude log each day. I am very grateful for the lovely words of encouragement and support.

What a positive outlook on life. I love the challenge of smiling at grumpy faces. Some don't return it though. You take the reader from morning to sundown. Sounds as if you are nourishing your soul. Love the last haiku especially.

Thank you. It means much! I am sorry I have been away but I had to tend to healing first and since that is now not a real option ... will spend my energy supporting all of you.

Hi Mystic Angel
This is some fantastic writing, my dear. I would give you six stars for your haiku poetry. The prose portion needs to be more concise... the choppier, the better, paralleling the poems. Still, you say it well, a grand philosophy.
I especially like what you had to say about a smile and kind word to turn someone's day completely around.
I have a friend who wakes up every morning, asking God to use her during the day for some good purpose. What a great way to greet the sunshine!
My favorite haiku (they were all very good) is:
"struggles strangle
needless nooses self-imposed
touch releases"

You have a fine talent!

blessings
Kimbob

You sound awfully like me, Monica-truly. This is my philosophy and since my life got a little better and I was no longer bogged down with problems from my family, I believe even more in the importance of being kind, smiling to make other happy and serving others. The rewards are boundless. Well expressed thoughts on your concept of joy. Lovely descriptions and imagery to enhance your concept. You have also demonstrated that you are a person of faith. Most enjoyable and good luck in the contest. Faye

This is very well done and I enjoyed it immensely. My only suggestion is that your prose needs to be more fragmented and even disconnected. One example is:

When day is done as setting sun returns to rest on day well spent, I meditate on all the things which passed. In some I did the job required, but as human I get mired and so repent on where I failed. A promise that when dawn arrives I will be better ... I will still try. I then fall peacefully to sleep knowing that my soul is heaven's to keep....

Could be:

Day is done. Setting sun returns. Day well spent? Meditate on what has passed. Contemplate failure or job well done. Another dawn awaits. Success is never far away. Sleep peacefully. Soul is surely heaven's to keep.

The Haibun is my favorite although I don't write them often enough. Beautiful work with this and a terrific entry for this contest. Sorry I wasn't able to review this before today, too pumped up on pain pills to make any sense.

Mystic Angel 7777: What a beautiful testimony, my precious sister in Christ. I like the Haibun with the flow of flower petals of wisdom. Smiles can lift up someone's day. We don't know what anger and strive is in their hearts but God's Grace through our love can transform them. James 4:6, Romans 12-14 and Gal 5:17-18, are verses I am studying during my mountain majesty and let it rain times. I see the devil running with we share the joy! Excellent and powerful message for the world, Monica!!!!!!!! God bless! Thank you for entering my contest! <><

This was a challenging contest and you well with some wonderful musings about the magic of giving as opposed to taking to spread the joy in that desperate supermarket. Well done and good luck, Monica.

Monica, my sweet, you are truly an earthbound angel. This reads so soft and gentle. The following is just one of the lines that touched me profoundly:

I see the fact that every day I am meant to show in every way that life is purely heaven sent and nothing for which I must repent.

My soul smiled reading that:)

Always your biggest fan,
Missy
