This was a great post and bringing up many great questions. My brother is a transgender, though my sisters and I are still having problems with the whole idea of it, we have accepted him for who he wants to be. though we still consider him a "he" since he hasn't completed the whole process. He kept his name, but changed the spelling, from Andy to Andi. I do not like what is happening in our country, where the few are forcing the many to accept their way of life and behavior. (my brother included) I can accept them for who they are, but that doesn't mean I have accommodate their every whim.

I don't like that the federal courts are forcing states to change their policy's about gay marriage, and forcing religious persons to go against their own beliefs. It is getting out of control and little by little our rights and freedom of religion are fading.

You know, my church wouldn't marry my husband and I because they didn't feel we were ready, and his church wouldn't marry us because I wasn't Catholic. Is that bigotry? No, it is their rights and beliefs and my husband and I found another way to be married. Twenty-two years now. Okay I'm off the subject at hand.

anyway great stirring of the transgender pot. I'm sure you will get lots of interesting responses. lol.

Thank you very much. Yes, lots of interesting responses, but surprising too. Most, like almost all, felt the same as you.

I think I've reviewed a number of these radio talk back play scripts of yours, and think they are very effective in developing a good picture of the issues being presented. The use of people from different perspective's as you have done in this transgender debate, allows realistic conversation that opens the mind, offers perspective, but gives no real judgements. By focus sing on Lila's specific case, the reader is able to deal with the wide ranging implications of his/her demands. Your script structure is very good and the dialogue engaging and thought provoking.

Hi Lancelot, Interesting script that sounded authentic.. I really thought I was reading a genuine script made for a radio show. The topic was interesting and relevant to today's debate.

I had trouble with this sentence..((Last year Lila self-identified as a gay male and has publically since the age of 13.))...To me, it was a bump that felt as if needs to be re-structured. Other than this sentence, the rest of the script flowed down brilliantly. Cheers.

You've done a great job capturing a representative range of views on this subject, and it's a tough one. I can see both sides, yet I still tend to come down on the side of teenage girls not wanting to share a locker room with a man (boy?), even one who identifies as female. But the subject is a sensitive one.

I'm not sure you need to explain "Inconceivable" as much as you did. Maybe just "it's a line from a movie" or something. Almost everyone I know has seen The Princess Bride (and my sisters and I can quote extensively from it :) ).

This was a great way to get your point across - in the form of a play. Demonstrating the problem, inviting opinions through the callers, and having Martin in charge gave you the opportunity to present a balanced argument. I thought it was well done and well presented, Giddy

Hey Lancellot, I like your radio scripts a lot. It's a really nifty idea to get out some hot social commentary top without a whole lot of set description.

It should be noted that males who self-identify as male are still barred from entering the girls' locker room. Haaaaaaa. I love that line. I think that is absolutely discrimination and should be dealt with post haste. LOL.

You covered the range of arguments with Simon being the most reasonable.

Enjoyable read. I say bring back the unisex outhouse, that'll solve the problem.

Gloria

I seldom review plays on FS, Lance. But I have to tell you I loved your radio talk show format. Your characters presented multiple viewpoints and injected some humor along the way. In the proces you brought up an important philosophical question about the tyrany of the few. Outstanding work, sir. :) Nancy

Interesting commentary on the current state of affairs. I think I saw this news article that you refer to here. It's "funny" how these gender issues somehow boil down to "which bathroom should he/she use"? It is a touchy subject. I have to tell you, I have NO problem should someone wish to switch genders. I don't believe they do it whimsically and it's a very difficult path to follow. That said, the locker room quandary is difficult. How do you meet the needs of the one, and not violate the needs of the many? Understanding is needed on both sides. A good part of wisdom is knowing when to back down, and considering the effect your desires and actions have on others.
This was a very original way to bring up some very tricky issues. Nice job,
Carol
P.S. When women get cramps, it's not in our stomach. It's the lower abdomen. FYI. :)

Outstanding! The interview was conversational in a way that it seemed like it could have been a transcript. The topic is obviously very relevant to what it happening in the news today. You portrayed many different points of view in a unique way that made it a very interesting read. Good job!
