I love that image of night embracing darkness. Wow, your vocabulary choices are simply perfect. That sounds so peaceful. That is such a wonderful poem, I loved it.

    Hi May 1,
Thank you for reviewing this poem. Another one that was challenging to write since it has to read the same forwards and backwards. I think it will be a while before I try that form again. Whew!
    I appreciate the encouraging review.

Love the artwork you've chosen and this Palindrome Poem is a beautiful read. Particularly like the lines about - Nocturnal Peace - with the frogs and wolves, crickets and owls. Sounds noisy but beautiful natural noise. Nicely done.

I judge that writing a Palindrome is no easy
task. But I appreciate the effort here and seeing
how a poem can end as it begins.
As a free-verse writer, I try to do this often.
Writing about the darkness as you do is different than most.
You don't make it scary and tense. Your poem embraces
the beauty of darkness and all its sounds. Nice job. -Bill

    Hi Bill,

Thank you for enjoying the beauty of the night. Darkness has so much beauty. I don't think we appreciate it enough. I appreciate the comments about the writing. A Palindrome is a challenge. I think once may be enough. Whew!
I appreciate your kind comments. Debi

Nicely done. Seems like a difficult form to
craft successfully but you seem to have
accomplished it here with beautiful imagery
and wonderful descriptive language.
I had not ever read a Palindrome Poem before.
I enjoyed this one, and loved the picture as well.

I guess I don't quite comprehend the Palindrome form, but I like this poem very much. It is evocative and beautiful and packed with strong imagery. I hope it will do well in this mysterious contest. I'm anxious to read other entries. It is seemingly very difficult to do this.

Thank you for the encouraging review. I appreciate the kind comments about the writing. The palindrome is a bit daunting and I am not sure I will tackle another one. This isn't for the contest, but I know there is one going and I appreciate the well wishes. I am delighted you liked this one.

Hi, Debi,

This was a great concept...because anyone who has ever camped or lived outside knows how nature comes alive at night.
My wife and I lived on our mining claim for years with campfires every night...which means I loved your paradox!
I enjoyed how you set the mood for this one and your portrayal of a beckoning night that calls to those with ears that may hear.
I also appreciate how the piece read...from beginning to end, it was seamless, my friend.
Hope all is well,
Bill

Wow, this poem is amazing - I really like it. I read through the first half, then I started to wonder what a Palindrome was, and was truly amazed to read through the second half and find that it all makes perfect sense, says the same thing, but even more beautifully.
It's like this poem turns itself inside out and says "You see? The night is beautiful and peaceful!" The first and last two lines are wonderful, and even more so for being turned around.
Well done!! Inspiring :)
Carol

A solid poem of the beauties of the nighttime (which happens to be MY favorite time of day ;))
My favorite stanza, by far, is:
"Nocturnal peace means
croaking frogs, howling wolves,
chirping crickets, hooting owls.
Somehow,
free and boundless,
night is alive."
You use wonderful word choice, and the topic is a nicely fresh concept. Thank you kindly for sharing, it's a great work of poetry.

With respect and gratitude,
You friend and colleague,

You're welcome, Debi. My pleasure for sure.

Another part to Dr. Morales' tale to come out in the next couple of days. The weirdness continues!
