Well, I did enjoy it and didn't mind the length of it, at all. But was the end supposed to be funny or do I have a sick sense of humor? I couldn't stop laughing. Evi

Thanks for taking the time to read this rather long story, Evi. The ending was intended to be humorous but only to those who possess a sick mind, LOL.

Seriously, I'm very grateful for your review and exceptional rating. More than anything else I'm just really glad you enjoyed it.

I hope you have a very happy and prosperous New Year in 2016.

OMG what an entry. I hate zombies and now even more...lol.
Nicely written, no problems noted, and quite an ending.
Held my interest as most zombie stories do not, but then you are not most...

Thanks you for taking the time to read a story of this length, Barb. Ironically the zombie genre is my least favorite of all the popular horror themes today. Never have cared too much for zombie tales, unless they took place in Haiti and incorporated Voodoo.
I appreciate your comments, and have a Happy New Year.

Hi Dean thanks for your offering. Nice dialogue, especially the country guy. Strangely enough I was wondering what his neighbor was doing in his trailer. The two characters developed distinctly different voices. This is good. I enjoyed the story. Maybe you even expand on it since it had legs and see where it goes.

Thank you, Reed. I am considering taking this story a bit further. It all depends upon how well it does in the review process.

Ha, ha, ja, it's a small world alright. This is more humorous than it is ghoulish there, Dean, but is a damn good read. Great details that really relay the nasty slime filled undead, and a sense of a world in the throes of insanity. I liked both your characters, they seemed like your typical maladjusted everyday type of guys that would rise to the top of the cesspool, in a situation like this. A great entry for the contest, and good luck.

This is yet another dark tale from the author in this piece of writing. I love the pictures and the story adds to the horror. This is a great tale about zombies. well done and happy new year.

Hi Dean,

Very nice work in this story. Great descriptiveness and feel running through the whole piece. A good balance between the humour, action and repulsiveness.

Long? Who cares.

virus or whatnot outta it's cage - its cage.

I hate bein' out here in friggin' the dark - should this be in the friggin' dark?

Now, a'fore ya go getting' - delete the 'g' or the apostrophe.

how late it's getting' to be - same thing here.

in here than getting'caught - and again here.

that look on it's face - its.

it closed it's eyes - its

Good luck with the committee. Got to be a hell of a contender.
G

That is my serve of zombie droppings for the year I think Dean. I'm surprised at the length but I got through it.I think in reality the quote at the top would true, if we're all dead, the dead will rule the world! Well.....I love the graphic smell of the beasties, that was giving the olfactory senses a workout, and I presume our hero got his one desire at the end! Well done, Dean when I was young, I did read a couple of Stephen King's novels and actually, mind you that's a long time ago, well done my friend, HNY to you and AW blessings, Roy

Thanks, Roy. I always do my best to engage all of the reader's senses--sight, smell, sound, and even taste -- if I can pull it off. I feel that's just as important when writing prose as proper punctuation and grammar. Although I must admit, Jasper Creed's grammar is far from perfect, lol.
Thanks for reading and commenting on my story.
    HNY to you as well.

I can't imagine anybody could possibly write a better Zombie contest entry. I would say this is perfect. Of course, I rarely read zombie stuff, but as I've told you before I read your work because you're an excellent author, one of the best on this site.

Zombies, zombies, everywhere! I never thought I'd be one of those caught up in the craze, spending my Sunday nights watching them on the tube, or anxiously waiting for the break to be over and the new releases to come. It's just the kid in me, and if'n I was a betting man, I'd say you and me will never grow up . . . never grow up . . . never grow up. Thanks for another fine story. :-)

If I were a betting man, I'd wager that you're right there, Ric. AMC's The Walking Dead is my favorite series on television. HBO's Game of Thrones and FX Network's American Horror Story come in a close second and third.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on this rather lengthy terror tale.
    I appreciate it.
Have a safe and prosperous 2016, my friend.

Well, it seems that our television choices are exactly the same. Now, I won't even be able to sleep with myself tonight, thinking my entertainment preferences are the same as such a wickedly-scary mind. Wishing You a Wonderful New Year! :o)
