Dean, my friend, :)

I miss you posting a lot. You only post once in a great while. I am wondering how is the quest for publishing going? Hope you are having luck!
I'm almost done with Flower Power! Yes! At least the first part, if there are any more.

I found some things to question:
You'd best go on, just turn around--'cause you cain't (can't? or poetic license?) never win."
all those within in that putrid place were nothin' but pure evil.
As all the wickedness they'd sown was wiped out by the devil (almost rhymes?)

Take care, friend,
Nome

I'm always runnin' late it seems lately, I just can't pass on one of yours that I missed.
You nailed your target, Dean. I was thinkin' High Plains Drifter...while I was reading this one.

Wow, that was a great evil western tale; I enjoyed the illustrations and music very much. The just added to the mood and set the tone for your writing. Evi

I always like reviews that begin with the word, "Wow", Evi (LOL).
Thanks very much for the enthusiastic response to this poem, and for that shiny extra star. I'm really pleased to know that you had fun reading this one. Because having fun is truly what it's all about.
    Thanks again, my friend.

This is a very interesting post you have done. It was full of great descriptive wording and very good imagery. I am so glad I don't live anywhere I like. Teri

My favorite mov ie of all time (that's sayin alot, podner) is "Shane"

Nuff said. There was a quiet but cool bad ass. To this day I have it on my DVR for ready use again and again. This little tale of yours put me in mind of him somehow. Don't know why. Bloodcurdlin is your thang, Tex. LOL. great job, DeanO. I loved it.

Jealously is a fierce gal especially when she's simmering inside the devil.
The menacing chaos in this poem is wickedly compelling with its rules & twisted order of hierarchy in the Farrel Bunch.
I think this is one of my best poem of yours. It's rich and enters deep into places we don't want to acknowledged exist in us & the world.

Thanks so much for reading and for your kind comments, Muffins.
To be honest with you, I had a lot of help from Nancy, Dawn, and a few others here to get this to where it is now, just as you've just read it. Because of their kind assistance, and other members like them, it is now a personal favorite of mine too, at least as far as the poems I've written.
Thanks for that shiny sixth star, too. Those are always appreciated.
Enjoy your weekend, and thanks so much again.

The Farel bunch do sound so very evil as is the town. Perhaps it would take a Clint Eastwood to clean the place up or as you say wipe the place out

Hi Dean,

Another great piece you have fashioned here. I love Johnny Cash and got a real feel of this here, along with shades of the Dark Tower among other bits and pieces. A town too vile for Satan so he wipes it out himself. Very nice work.

Well Dean, I dare say that the Wild, Wild West mood suits you just fine, my friend. This is excellent; it peaked my interest right away and kept it right on through, even though I'm not a fan of the west or of scary, evil stuff. When it's done well, however, one gets hooked. I loved that twist at the end.

This is an entertaining piece with as perfect meter as I've read. It's great read aloud. Well, well done! I really enjoyed it.

Best,
Lena

i really like that, it flows really well and you can feel yourself there, a picture unfolds in your head as the story unfolds, reminds me of a Clint Eastwood film from my younger days called high plain drifter where he reaps revenge on a town that wronged him in the past, painting it red and burning it down. you poem summed up a similar picture, really good
