Thank you very very much for the six stars, Debbie. Glad you enjoyed the story. I won't be writing one that long again. But I'll write more stories. :)

A good epilogue as the lives of those left proceed forward. Somehow I missed the last chapter, so will go back and look for it. I am always so far behind ... Have a good night, my friend~Debbie

Nice touch. I would have never thought of tying up the loose ends by telling the reader what happened after the story ends.

Thanks, Tom. I always add an epilogue. My readers appreciate it. When I read a novel or see a movie, I'm always curious about what happened later. I wish every author would take the time for an epilogue. It's really no trouble. I've only read a few novels that have one, and those were older.

nice! I loved the last line with Simone having an affair with the gardener, lol. You didn't mention the Starkey and Kate. Is it because you have plans for their next adventure?

Take care,
Russell

I'm glad everything worked out for everyone. Simone just doesn't learn, does she? She must be one of those people who is never satisfied, and I can imagine her getting into trouble again. Wait till the new hubby finds out about the gardner. I thought Gayle deserved the happy ending.

Thanks so much, Cindy. Yes, Gayle deserved a break. And she still gets to keep her house. :)

Phyllis,

Well, no one can accuse you of not tying up all the loose ends. *smile* This was a perfect - and fun! - conclusion to the story! I enjoyed reading about all the characters and how they ended up.. Thanks!

The Old Stone House: Epilogue
The focus what happened to the women who lost their husbands and Gayle.
The story line development: Simone served 6 months of her 18 months in prison for having holding back evidence. She moved in with her rich parents and became married. Cassie resolved not to get married and started a city wide basketball team and was having an affair with a male and female. Loretta used her million for the insurance to travel and met a restaurant owner in Italy and never returned home. Gayle had expensive surgery that almost had her face look normal. She had two parks placed on the property one for children the other for entertainment. The house became a museum. The ballroom became a venue for weddings and events. While building the museum she involved the historical society and met her husband. The businesses supported the museum, and ballroom.
The emotion felt joy each turned their lives around.

Phyllis, if I disappear for awhile it is because my computer is dying and I won't be able to get one for a month or two. I'll try to keep it going. Rita

Well, I missed all the signs that pointed to this conclusion. Great job, Sherlock! This was a fun read and it looks like you've left it open-ended so you can return to these characters again. Smart!

Thanks, Robyn. Early in the book they discussed the possibility of murder-suicide and noted that Leon had reason to be depressed. But then Kate found Gayle and their focus shifted. Only the captain was thinking about Leon while the other detectives and the readers were concentrating on the wives. It's standard mystery stuff, to give a clue early and hope the reader forgets and/or becomes distracted. :)
