OH! You should have entered this one in the Halloween poetry contest, methinks, fair damsel, for it's a winner (at least in my book- I love it!) Once again a redhead, huh? What great artwork too!

Thank you, Dawn. I have several witchy poems to come up until Halloween. I'm compiling them in a book as I go. It's called Bewitching Halloween. Marilyn

Terrific description! How did you know? Have you been peeking in my window? I thought I saw someone sneaking around on the deck. Well, now my secret is out, so there's no point in returning to my youthful, attractive, friendly state. I may as well stay the old witch I am. You are first on my list for a late night visit, Marilyn. I can't be kept out, as you well know. See you soon, next full moon. :)

Hi Phyllis. More to come with the witchy witches. I have Ellen (barkingdog) to thank for her encouragement to continue the series until Halloween. And yes, Phyllis, I had you pegged from the start as a witchy woman. If you've got it, flaunt it. I appreciate your fun review and comments. Marilyn

Marilyn, now we must all beware of that red headed witch. A very
cute poem, but a little scary. Lots of good alliteration in ...bubbling boiled...
crone cavorts... ghouls, ghosts, goblins... witches warlocks.

Hi Judy. Thank you for your great review and comments. Not scary. I don't think anything can harm us with our firm belief system except for the "real" bad people with twisted brains. Marilyn

Very witchy poem for Halloween!

I liked these parts:
"Ancient chants she cackles, down through the ages,
crooked finger turns ancestral tome's pages."
"She fires up the cauldron, bubbling boiled potion.
Dancing crone cavorts, wantonly in motion.
Foul writhing spirits join the fierce commotion."

The artwork is perfect for a "Witchy red-haired changeling"

Well done!

Kelly

This poem and the picture are a perfect combination.
Your witch turns out to be less sweet than we originally thought... shame!
I like the rhyme in your poem, it doesn't sound forced at all.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Maria. Thank you for your fine review which is right on the money. What DO witches DO for the other 11 months of the year? Live life like the rest of us, but come Halloween--they "put on" their witch. :) Marilyn

Marilyn, a good poem for the Halloween season witch is fast approaching. Your three lines per stanza give your story that extra punch with clever rhyming and scatters of alliteration. A most enjoyable read to get the reader into the season of witches and warlocks....and candy season :-) ~DD

Hi DD. My witchy poems will continue until Halloween. I'm not usually into that holiday--but my kids love it. It seems everyone else on FanStory is on the bandwagon for Halloween, too. May as well join them. Thank you for your great review and comments. Marilyn

snuggles her black cat as sweetly as she should.
... Wonderful, melodic sounds of "s" going on here in this line, Marilyn ...

She fires up the cauldron, bubbling boiled potion. ... Nice use of alliteration here with, "bubbling boiled", and "crone cavorts" in the next line as well ...

My sincere thanks to barking dog for coaxing you into writing this poem. My book couldn't do it, but she did, lol.
Good stuff...

Oh Dean, I have some diabolical Halloween poems to post and I'm not sure if I should. May tarnish my image, don't you know.

I do see you are compiling a book. I'm not sure how that works. Are all the poems somehow gathered in one spot--where, how? Does a copy stay in the author's portfolio? I will be continuing the witchy theme (thanks to Ellen's encouragement) until Halloween. I do appreciate your fine review and comments. Thank you. Marilyn

reply by Dean Kuch on 10-Oct-2016
Yes, the poem still remains visible in your portfolio it is simply "tied" to the book.
To post in the book, go to the first chapter located in my portfolio. Don't worry, nothing there will bite you.

Click on the first post as if you were going to review it.

At the bottom of the page, just below the author's notes, there is a tab labeled, "ADD CHAPTER".

Click that tab and add your poem as you normally would.

Go ahead, it won't "tarnish" your image any more than I did writing about the love for my dog, Gidget, LOL.
    Your image will survive.
    ~Dean

Hi Dean. Thank you for that info.

Please let me know if I can put my poem in my own book if it is in yours. In other words--can my poem be simultaneously in your group book and also in my own? That will determine whether I contribute or not.
    Marilyn

reply by Dean Kuch on 10-Oct-2016
    Yes.
If you don't believe me, simply check any entry (chapter) in the book, then go to the corresponding author's portfolio.
You'll see that it remains in both places.
    ~Dean

reply by the author on 10-Oct-2016
Now--Dean, of course I believe you. I didn't know it was possible to have a poem in two places. Perhaps you can answer another question for me.

There are some poems that I would like to include in two places in my OWN portfolio. Do you know if this is possible? For example, if I want one poem to be part of two separate books, can I do this?

reply by Dean Kuch on 10-Oct-2016
Yes, you can do that, just label them Part I and Part II, and you can place them in two different books. Just as long as they have a different title you're fine.
    ~Dean

reply by the author on 10-Oct-2016
Thank you for that info, Dean.

reply by Dean Kuch on 10-Oct-2016
    Sure, no a problem, Marilyn.
    Have fun!
    ~Dean :)
