Hi, Marilyn

= Interesting, but I've met up with a few witches during my working days.
= Happily, far more nice peeps, so didn't have to use too many spells. LOL
= Love this artwork. Definitely looks vintage.
= Have a great weekend.

Hi Jax. Thank you for reviewing this one. It's one of several Halloween poems I've written for the season. Halloween usually isn't my "holiday," but most people have had fun writing about it. Might as well join in. I know what you mean about the witches at work. I hated that aspect of office life and was able to get a job working from home. Fabulous. Marilyn

I like the artwork you choose to go with your poem
It is a perfect match
You had my attention from the start and I will say nay.
So the witch will fly away.

You are really making me look forward to Halloween with your witches' brews! I enjoyed your rhymed quatrains and tercets plus use of alliteration to intensify the hexes. Cheers- Joan

A very well-written witchy poem for Halloween. I would rather move away than to befriend or unfriend a witch in my neighborhood.

LOL!. I think they keep to themselves or associate with others of like kind. I don't know, but would assume so. We don't want to be beholding to one, do we? Thank you for reading and reviewing my witchy Halloween poem. Marilyn

Hi Judy. Ha, ha. Well we're women, we're entitled to be witchy womanly wonders. If we've got it, flaunt it. I'm having fun writing my witchy poems for Halloween. Thank you for reading and reviewing. Much appreciated. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, love the picture you have used. I take it you aren't getting these great photos from FanArt....Great fun little poem setting the mood for the Halloween season. Nice use of alliteration - witchy womanly wonder. This is obviously not a stricked 9 syllable count with most lines at 9, then 10 (1st line - 2nd stanza), then 4 and 7 syllables at the end.

Your end line - just a suggestion if I may - I thought it might read slighter better as follows:

"riding the straw broom, be seen no more"
riding her broom to be seen no more.

Food for thought. Thanks for the share. ~DD

Thank you, DD. I appreciate your fine review. You're right. The syllable line length does vary. I guess I'd better take that blurb out of there. Marilyn

Tempting, but I'll leave my fate in my own hands for now and watch her soar over the moon :-). Solid rhyme and nice allit. Love the shift in construct in the last two stanzas. cheers - DJ

This is really funny and original. Are we only talking about witches here or is this a metaphor for something else?
Thanks for sharing.
