It had such lush and beautiful imagery. I loved the beginning when she begins this journey, but I didn't fully understand the Lion's response in the end. I think I will need to reread it.

Gloria, I just read these heroic sonnets and you have something to be very proud of here. This work is about the best I've read on site. I'd grant this a 6 if I could.

Just checkin' in....

Gloria,
I had to wait till today to give you a six on this exquisite work. I am in awe. Well hell, it deserves more than a mealy six. As a writer of poetry, one can only stand in awe at the sheer amount of work and talent and thought which goes into such a Herculean endeavor. All I can truly say is wow, and wow again. Thee are no word sufficient enough to describe not only its emotive value but all the perfectly employed poetic devices uses. Metaphors, allusions, enjambment, rhythm, cadence. tone. Superb quality and this does not even describe its beauty.

Why am I reminded of C.S. Lewis. do not know.. I bow to you or more appropriately to your gift of impeccable and moving word art.. beautiful lady.. jimi

Gloria, you certainly are romantic! This is neither good nor bad in itself, but I think it leads you to write poetry that isn't current. I love dreams and fantasy, but who are you writing for? Have you ever been to an open mic or a slam? I limit my romantic stuff in public. The division between oral poetry and written poetry is sharper than ever.
If you'll allow me, I recommend reading Sharon Olds, Mary Oliver, Maya Angelou,
Gary Snyder, and Gregory Corso. My model for modern romantic poetry is Anna Ahkmatova, and Conrad Aiken has some amazing passages.

I have in fact performed for an audience a great deal in life V. Yes I am also familiar with many of the poets you've mentioned and I like them too! I like lots of different styles of poetry. Confessional poetry for the most part doesn't interest me a great deal, but I must admit to getting a good chuckle out of your review. Thanks for a review, I think. LOL.

    Appreciation my friend,

    Gloria

Well, blessed be and have a great weekend. Tomorrow my friend John and I begin filming the first scene in the movie we've been trying to create for the past 8 months.

I'm always in such awe with any Crown of Sonnets and how much work and revision must go into writing this format. Your Crown is superb, Gloria. What an intriguing and absorbing story this is, and your descriptive imagery is wonderful. Your enjambment, alliteration and rhymes are all wonderdul. I did stumble a couple places with meter, but maybe it's my pronunciation of words. I'm also not great with all those extras of sonnet meter devices m

Verse I Line 13--nine syllables so meter read off to me
Verse V Line 3--11 syllables. I found dandelions to be 4 syllables in 3 different research
Verse VII Line 7--I scanned as...his EYES OPened WIDE NEVer

I enjoyed your Crown so much, Gloria. Awesome write!
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Ah yes you are right I had changed that line line 7 and I should not have. I will change it back and of course dandelions must be four syllables to keep abreast with the Lion. Thank you soooooooo much for an exceptional rating and wonderful review.

    Always appreciated,

    Gloria

The last verse is aching, preceded by the war, and children dying, all too real today. I loved every line, and read it twice, another favorite...'The Death', Your fates to walk on earth among the dead'...loved that. What a cruel fate. This is awesome. I've never written a crown of sonnets before....didn't there used to be a contest every year that featured them? Just beautiful Miss Gloria....blessings...
