Everything needs a name, Marilyn. I'm naming the black cat. Smokey if it's a boy.
Misty if it's a girl. Good artwork choice. I do that sometimes. Calming. And then, I read the poem and it's scary. Great visual imagery created. Nice work

Hi Marilyn. I wrote a script for a competition. Working on a movie script now. I'd rather be a actress.... My poetry book had 3 sales and I was 1 of the buyers. Making money should be simple: poetry or not. We're always friends. I'll keep you updated. Hearts & hugs, Alicia

Hi Alicia. Regardless of how many sales you have had so far, congrats to you for your courage in getting yourself out there and published. I know you will do well in whatever you do. Marilyn

A good Halloween themed poem. The black cat adds to the mystery of the season. The picture allows for a more vivid imagery. Nicely rhymed read. ~DD

The cat reminds me of my own black cat, Jewel. I wrote a poem about her today. Thank you for reading this one. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,

Another fine addition to your book of poems. I love your closing line "when ghosts writhe in smoky threads". Excellent rhyming, good flow and excellent imagery created for your reader.

Well done!

Connie

And a wonderful addition to your book it is too, Marilyn.
Well rhymed, short, sweet, and to the point.
Ya know, I once rode through the desert on a Cat with no name, it felt good to get out of the rain...
Nice work!

Hi Dean. You are the second reviewer to think that line is taken from the song. Not true. The witch's familiar typically is a "cat with no name," a spirit guide, a totem so speak. Many native cultures have "totems," as in totem poles a conglomeration of animals stacked up to honor, recognize them. Each of us identifies (usually) with a specific animal. The wolf is a popular one. I think you know all this already and were just making a joke and taken as such.

As far as short--I DO like short. Once in a while I get carried away with length. Mostly--if a piece is too long I skip right over it. But that's me. If it can be said once, why write it five different ways. I think others may like longer pieces, but that's usually not me. I do appreciate your fine review as always. Thank you very much. Marilyn

I like the artwork you choose to go with your poem,
I love those magical cat spell eyes If he was cat I would call him Smokey because he's not really pure black to me.
Thank you for sharing.

Wow--what good fortune to find an artwork of a cat with a candle to parallel your theme! I liked the double meaning of "familiar" and the vivid "smokey threads" image along with your rhymed quatrains. Bewitching!! -Joan

There is nothing like a black cat at the spooking time. A smooth, clever write at the
proper time.I liked it and found it exceptional in form, meter, cadence and great rhyme

Hi, Marilyn

= Fun read. Love, love the artwork.
= Pretty kitty--an black, too. I'll name him Blackie.
= Beautifully formatted with the brown and yellow, to really showcase your poem, and the picture. Nice job.

Poor cat! He doesn't even have a name. Even if he's a spirit guide that mean witch should have named him.
Lovely poem and picture.
Thanks for sharing.

Black cats are such an iconic part of Halloween. Even though this cat has no name, I'm reminded of Binx, the charming black cat from Hocus Pocus, bewitched to live forever in cat form.
