The rule of thumb here, especially, is to take a self mandated break from reading in the forum lol I've been here over ten years... I don't think I started reading in the forum until last year sometime. It isn't always a good thing, and I see a lot of what you are saying here reflected there. At least, so far as my experience, there is still a basic sense of respect in the reviews.
Good write, I think a lot need to read it.
Thanks,
Kim

I have only been around for a few months, so I haven't really seen the change.
Most of the reviews I get are kind, some somewhat scathing.
As long as people are polite, I can accept criticism.
Very nice poem as usual, Dean.

Dean,
I really like the way you expressed your feelings about FS in a non-judgmental way. Your lines flow well with great alliteration & rhyme & meter--especially when read aloud.
You did a great job contrasting the ones who take over, run the show at their whims regardless of who they hurt with the ones who listen politely & respond appropriately.
Your artwork is perfect & perfectly placed.
I like the ending. No one knows when it might be her/him who desires others to listen/respond. But as my grandmother used to say, "They shot their wad." Seriously, there is a tactful way to offer suggestions in a true sense of wanting to help & a hurtful/spiteful way to beat others down just to make themselves look better.
You have a tremendous way of writing the truth in a way that is easy to understand & hopefully others can see themselves & maybe change. But many of them will not read this. So one can hope that this will 'build up' others with confidence when those nasty ones come to their door.
I agree that the site has changed quite a lot in the last few years and sometimes I even log in and have a hard time finding things or working around the site.
To review your post, I thought it was well versed and I really loved all the artwork, pictures, graphics, and I loved the music. It really set it apart from other pages I've visited.
It's sad that some of us are still here trying to keep the respect for our fellow writers but then others from different sites have come along and have kinda made it a second thought wether or not to post for a review.
Well spoken, my wise friend.
Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, and our job is to see if they've gotten it across clearly, or artistically. Some, better at analyzing grammar even help with that.
Bravo,
Rhonda

A well-written piece. We should always respect each other as writers and people. But I know there are a few reviewers on this site that would rather be down right ugly to you (me) than just skip something I write because they do not like what I am writing. I know that when I review it dose not matter if I personally like it or not. It it meets the rules of a contest or it is well written than that is what matters.

Wow! No doubt about the problem you address. I might add that is a high quality poem too.
They mock with mediocrity, as they are yet too blind to see."
Nothing mediocre here. Do you feel as if you've grown as a poet while on the site?
Even though I get good reviews, my writing doesn't begin to compare with Barking Dog and Maggie Adams, just to name two examples. Also the wit of Phyllis Stewart and Thomas Bowling.
Poetry I tend to avoid unless it touches me in the heart and mind. This one did.
Great poem. I never review things that I don't like. I read something, know I can't write s favorable review, I move on. I just can't dash someone's hope nor can I blow smoke up someone's rear. Lol. Great job. Gretchen

A most profound read and great words of wisdom. I pray all who have read understand this much needed message and I like how you presented it my friend. Your author's notes were an added touch, thanks for sharing. Blessings my friend and lots of love..............Portia
Excellent tale to parallel your meaning about the reviews. Indeed i just experience a few of those reviews when what i said was challenged insteaf of judging solely my writing.
