Thank you for writing this Dean. I always do my best to courteous and respectful when writing a review. On occasion I have not always received the same but I just assume they individual doesn't like my work or has misunderstood it. I am new here so I can't say I see anything different. I have to say that for the most part, my experience on FanStory has been a very positive one. I have met some very nice people on this site and I am enjoying it very much. I have learn quite a lot from you good people. For that I am very grateful.

Dean--
Yeah, I take your point here and many is the poetry reading I have sat through when some "bard" took the stage, believes it his, and goes on and on and on. On the other hand there is something to be said for both the human, the HUMAN impatience in such settings and for the generosity of some to not dominate when it is their turn. Whether this is a lesson here I don't know. I like, in this case, your use of what is for me "stilted" or antique lingo -- in this case it works. Thanks for the thoughts.

WOW Dean! This is fantastic. Great descriptions and imagery. I've noticed many changes just in the 2 years I've been here, so I can imagine what long timers have seen. You are right, it is up to each one of us in how we are going to act and treat each other. I've found most people are kind and helpful, but it sometimes only takes one bad apple.

Yep, everything changes all the time. A wonderful poem with a delightful medieval touch. Those were the days when entertainment was well received and highly anticipated with glee.

Excellent presentation that wonderfully complements your cautionary tale. :))

Dean: I think you are one of the most amazing writers on this site. You have
mentored many, including me with awareness. You jump to challenges and
I regret you had to get out your sword to sling at those a ...hole....words.
Yes, sometimes, we have to revolt. I am honored to know you.

The newspaper is writing a story about my challenge of my novel. I want to
thank you again for helping me. I saw my bad guy transform by love. I used
your words about the skydiving in my story. You will see it them in "the cave."

I like how you connect to writers to create fun projects. Good to vent...chat anytime. Great poem and art work.. ***** Eph 6. flylikeaneagle

Dean, an excellent write. How very true. We can make this a place
where people feel encouraged to share. We should never be rude
or unkind to others. I like your thoughts here and hope people
think about it and are courteous.

Excellent points are made by your poem. Listening and letting someone have their say is important both in real life and in this forum. Reading your poem also felt sort of like listening to the Bard himself. Well-written and a very interesting read.

Yeah, you have to hit 'skip' if you think the work stinks. Fortunately, the ones who don't know that are a small minority, and there's a 'mute' option to deal with them. I've found the vast majority of Fanstorians are wonderful.

As a not so new-newbie, I have to pay attention to the message of this poem, and take it to heart.

It's premise is developed in a story telling manner that causes reflection on the purpose of the art of a writer/story teller/bard. It exposes honest and dishonest crafters; but especially those who want immediate recognition vs. those willing to listen and learn.

I have been made to think about my own intents/heart. Thank you.

Great comments about what's going on with FanStory. If there's intolerance and ignorance, I believe that reflects what's going on in society at large. We saw incredible rudeness during the political season. I've seen instances of people receiving bad reviews because the reviewer disagreed with the writer's point of view. When Brooke was here, I think she set the tone for being gracious and generous. A few people who are bullies make it difficult for the rest of the members. There are some cutthroat competitors. I've encountered a few newcomers who try to show that they know it all. Kindness and courtesy should set the tone. Excellent rhyme, and you do a great job of placing the reader back in time, with references to kings, court jesters, and ancient bards. Great work. judi
