Hugely enjoyable read, and I somehow did know a bit of what was coming with the mention of bookstore. Lol

Interesting form as is all your work.

Well done

I have a lovely leather-bound book of Byron's poems, prose and letters that I chose as a school prize for being top of the class lol. As usual your rhythm and rhyme scheme are flawless and I really enjoyed the humour in this. Well done.

Simply fabulous writing, your talent is a treasure . Thank you so much for sharing !

"afforded me the pleasure, right or wrong,
to be Don Juan: Byronic Romeo—
and she, as such, was Juliet. We screwed;
made love—both terms applied, but I was crude
when on the coarser edge of twenty-one
and, sad to say, that "love" was one and done".

"And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent," let's hope he is and wins a heart. Lovely stuff that is dripping with eloquence and tender thought. The book shop browse is well described where genius is oft discarded to a bargain bin and cooking just right a stuffed tomato is elevated to high literature and the poet bleeds in heaven.

oh no, another rogue set loose on the poor hepless females of this world.-LOL
I love the clearance bin, you always find something good, if you have varied interests:o)

Although the world could use another poet more than another Harry Potter fanatic

Hope he gets the gift befoe the poem, else the surprise will be ruined

Nice one,
Dawn :o)

You are an astounding writer, Marillion. You can make words flow effortlessly. I hope your cousin enjoys that book more than HP. Who needs that series anyway? Ok so I read 'em and get teased my my son then we read it together, so I guess it's worth it.

Another excellent work.

Welcome back! Only you could manage to make a 'life is like a shave' poem an excellent piece of writing. A great ending to a great poem. Nuffin from me or my peanut gallery, we like it just the way it is ;)

Boy I wish I'd had a Byronic Santa when I was in College LOL's, but then again I went to Lipscomb a stuffy Christian university and they probably would have given me black marks for my behavior ( luckily I was never caught) great poem Marillion, you never cease to amaze me in your writing abilities, and the ability to entertain. Keep up the good work :)

Till :)
