Great therapy. It made me think of one I'd written myself about an African child writing to the then President Obama for a Christmas gift! I'm not sure where I saved it - this would be a couple of years ago on my FB.

You should dig up the story and spend some new time with your story. Save it for the annual Christmas story contest. Often when time passes, with fresh eyes, the story takes on more depth. It doesn't have to name a president, just Dear Mr. President. Sounds like a great idea and the committees are always looking for fresh approaches to the contests.
    Thanks for the read.

This is a fine piece of flash fiction on the disturbing emergence of half truths and alternate facts. I was shocked Trump denied the small size of his Inauguration crowd despite evidence to the contrary. He believes if he lies often enough, people will believe him. Your fable shows how this lying culture will trickle down to children, resulting in disasterous consequences for the Aidens everywhere.

Thank you for sharing.

I have no idea how the US will survive Trump. I've come to understand--reluctantly--why people who may NOT be bigots or racists voted for him, but I don't think anyone realized his level of narcissism and strained relationship with truth. The change so many craved may become chaos. Then again, he may be like a bull in a china shop breaking half the inventory while others clean up. I've never seen anything like this. BUT, here's the saving grace, in my mind. BECAUSE of his flaws, he will never be able to mobilize America to march to a goose step or salute him like a God. A much stronger man could very well have taken the crowd mania and turned it into something evil. Thanks for the visit.

I love how you took our real world stuff and made it into a fun little story. Alternative facts...why didn't I think of that? This was a fun read and the best thing I've seen all day.

Thanks for the stars and the laugh. The best all day? Yes, what really blows me away is how quickly not only the phrase, but the acceptance of 'alternative facts' is adapted as a legitimate rebuttal. I'm still in shock. In my day, they were called lies.

Hi Ingrid,

This is funny. I have been following on about the 'alternative facts' situation. the thing is though, they're not wrong. There are elements and degrees, bias and perspective included in all 'facts'. Think of all those things we used to believe that now aren't facts at all.

Ok, so some are outrageous, but others not so much. interpretation is such a wonderful thing lol

All the best
G

This phrase, Alternative facts, will become ionic, but in the context that Kellyann Conway delivered the line, it was ludicrous. Sean Sicer, the new press secretary delivered an admonishment to the White House p[ress and he had 5 different errors in his speech.

Yes, I agree, the world is not flat. LOL/ Thanks.

Nice job.
It's tough to keep a sense of humor about this. I can imagine this in a comic strip.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the smile.

I've seen the news about "Alternative Facts" as I believe KellyAnn called it. Aiden may turn out to be a politician. I don't know what kind of petty universe the new Washington DC crowd is living in. Facts are still facts. I hope we don't have school children latching onto that phrase. The proof lies before the young man. By the way, does it really make a difference whose inauguration crowd was larger? Great post and possibly a sign of things to come. judi

Trump feeds on praise and numbers. I listened to a guy at NBC talk about how DJT strutted around telling people Celebrity Apprentice was the #1 show on the network. While it was in opening season, by the 5th, which is when he made this claim, it had dropped to 72nd position. Thin skinned with mixed up priorities. I've said it before, as I am sure others have, this man wanted to WIN, he never wanted the job.

    Thanks for reading.

You're right. I think Trumps main interest was winning, and he never thought beyond that. Making an issue of who had larger crowds on Inauguration day was just silly. Trump gets upset over things that really don't matter. judi

Haaaha - oh goodness - why is it wrong to warm a bottom when it needs it? It's not like a child abuser is going to be stopped by some rule-book... This is great, Ingrid - wish you'd write more like it!

Ha, great job, Ingrid. I really had to laugh when Kellyanne Conway, Trump's counsel, coined this new phrase "alternative facts". Yes, the term is going to come in quite handy for lots of things, right?

But of course she changes her mind from day to day so in my opinion she is a completely unreliable source of anything but Alternative Facts. This is gonna be even better than Deep Thoughts.

Great job with a fine metaphor.

Kellyann will go to her death with that phrase associated to her. She's one smart cookie, refuses to be caught no matter how many times she alters the story, but she sure does have energy. This was my therapy this AM.

Too cute. I wish all parents felt the same way. Unfortunately, many think it's all the teacher's fault... what did you do to make him angry? Why can't she turn in the paper three weeks late? Why do you give homework? etc...

Great job,
Rhonda

Hi there, a very interesting read and so appropriate of what is happening in your country at the moment. We're watching and listening over here. Your story is one great metaphor of all the happenings. All the best. Ulla:)))
