Hello RG: Wow, this is a mighty poem, full of power and wisdom. This poem and the author notes I hold dear to my heart as I once was in an extremely abusive marriage. My God was my comfort, strength and my salvation so I was able finally able to get out of it with my life. My sister, Susan was not so fortunate. She was murdered by her ex-lover who would not take no for an answer. He was murdered later in prison for a different crime. My niece, Charnez (Poem is in my portfolio, titled, "Charnez") was in a very abusive marriage also, she was found dead on Sept. 02, 2016. Yes, her death was related to the abuse from her abusive husband. She died one day before and three years later from the date that my older son was found dead in the same manner. He was my son from that abusive marriages so although I got out of the marriage with my life, my son still stayed connected to that monster who was supposed to be his father. He used my son to do something which ended up costing my son his life.

I could go on and on in regards to the abuse that went all through my family. I too saw it as a very young child. It was not my parents because they were the perfect married couple. My Aunt Ellamae was being horribly abused by her husband, Uncle JC. I was the young child in the back seat of the family station wagon as daddy drove Aunt Ellamae and my two cousin back to their apartment in Bklyn, NY. I used to listen to every word she said but promised myself that I would never be in an abusive relationship. My Aunt Ellamae died at age 36, I say due to a broken heart form the beatings. The doctors said from a bad heart. My cousin Gwen, Aunt Ellamae's daughter, her husband beat her so bad until he broke her back. he took all her money from her and took their children away from her also. She is now in a medical facility where he dumped her and left. She lives there miles and states away from him and her children who do not visit her.

Well, I could not help sharing some of that with you because you poem took me there, to all the memories. You were so correct in saying that the abusers are only cowards. I would never call a man a man if he could hit a woman - just punks and cowards.

Your poem is touching and very remarkable. It is exceptional. It really deserves a six, a ten really but all I have is the five stars. Much love. Thank you for addressing this problem.

I've written many poems regarding this, also. One day when you have the time you can find them in my portfolio. Have a wonderful day.

Yes, Dear T. I was certain this one would could crop up in amongst those given notice. What hit me is the amount of death by unnatural causes. The list is heartbreaking, and so much mirrors, not only a culture of it, which seem to feed, but too, the acceptance with no way out...and as well, how it can have a chain reaction.

I realize how I might have been added to that list at a very young age, but another story which does not worry me now. "This Face" is in my portfolio, which gives me solace as to the man I've become, which shows no scars, just a moving on from.

I certainly am going into your poems deat T. I will especially read Chemise. But Tier, don't use your six stars on my old poems, even if you fin them worthy, as we only get a few, and your word tell me how you value them....save for my new if the move you :) Proud of you, dear lady. You let no man lay hands on you ever again, for it only takes the first time, nice as he may be, and if one has a high tolerance level, the mild one could be seen as nothing...but it is, its a waning and start, so no chances taken....and don't confuse pain for love...we have often confused the two, and that is most of our downfalls.

Stay strong little lady,..Right here with you x
You have a beautiful day, and keep looking to the sunshine as you ride each day and realize every hour, for it is when we become complacent and forget, take for granted, life passes by before you blink.

Be well. Lots of hugs and happiness I send.

Yes, dear friend. As to the chain, "They say that what does not make you will break you."

I was so shocked that this sort of thing seemed to follow some of us. My father was not an abusive man so I never understood why most of us ended up with abusive mates. I had 8 sisters, so there were 9 of us. me and my sisters did not take that crap from our husbands, too stand uppy so we divorced them as soon as possible. As to my sister Susan, she knew that her ex had a brother who shot his woman 9 times then waited for the Police to arrive. I wondered why she would know that but stay in the same home and state. She did not expect him to be a murderer too, I guess. Not too long after we buried Susan I met a nut case who stalked me and threatened to kill me if I left him, I didn't waste anytime leaving that state, my home, my furniture, my car, everything I owned except for my children. It seems that some of us are magnets for that kind of man but I always tell my nieces and my daughters to always pay attention to the very first sign or red flag. I pray that they listen. I'm going back to your portfolio to read that other poem. Your poetry is amazing. Are you published because I will purchase your books?

reply by Tier V. King on 14-Oct-2017
I don't see, "This Face" It seems that there are only two pages of your work. I checked both pages twice. Where is this poem?

reply by the author on 14-Oct-2017
Most of my work is in the book (Different Faces Of Love) look in my portfolio. It hasn't been edited yet as a few of the poems, less well written, will be added to or changed for new work latest when fitting in the category. Scroll down and loof for @The Different Faces of Love@

No, I am taking my time with publishinfg to get the right thing as with audio, CD if possible... and would be too expensive to self publish, with those factors, though easier now, but I want my words read. That is the ultimate, so keep on writing until editing and finding the right solution. In the mean time getting stronger with both voice and narrative, as well the technical qualities of writing. :)

This period is a busy period for me, for I aim to release for the LOve Poem competition once a year, though this year will not be the ordinary for it will be a children's poem...such the diversity of love. THen. I have entered the Poem 3 competition...deadline all in October, and it takes time to complete with audio on at least one of them. No audio on the love poem. :)

reply by Tier V. King on 14-Oct-2017
I found that book but which chapter is it? I clicked until chapter 12. I will look again when I return from my break.

Yes, NEVER self publish. It was a nightmare for me. They (Publishing company) were extremely expensive and money hungry. My book had no errors when I sent it to them but when they put it into their gallery, it scattered all of my poetry like a jig saw puzzle. I could not trust them to put my poetry back correctly so when I retyped it (because I somehow lost my saved files in all of the confusion) I did not get a proof reader or editor, yet this company does not read the books they publish, AT ALL. Anyway my book ended up published with errors in it. I paid them about $1500.00 but I have a book out there that I am not pushing because it has errors in it. They had the nerve to offer to market the book for another $6000.00. Then when I told they, "NEVER" they said then what about $500.00 - $1700.00. They are so ridiculous. This self publishing company is called Xlibris. Do not ever use them and tell every one else not to use them. Dawn (on the site) recommended a publishing company that is way more affordable and I think she said free. I would have to get the information from her again.

reply by the author on 14-Oct-2017
I can do most evrything else but when it comes to publishers (self) there are so many now. So many books being self published in which you have to purchase the book from them, but some now, because the competition, offering to do it at smaller prices. The company you speak about has expanded to England. 1000's of books being self produced but little being read. I just need to keep improving whilst waiting and looking :)

Even though I am the Mother of two, wonderful Sons who treat their wive's like queens, I didn't see this one coming from a male. I've known the circumstances in which you describe and with time was able to function and leave that world. Thank you for the celebration of women. I must say that there are many Men worthy of a celebration, my kind poet!

And thank you, dear author, you put a tear to eye, even after this time, for your review, is both genuine and a joy to hear the celebration of your sons, for there are good men out there, as much as there are bad women, not in same quantity I would add. You integrity and honesty, as well care for such topic touched me knowing it has touched you in more ways than one.
    My thanks to you.
Have a beautiful Sunday, and best regards to family.

Thank you, so much, MamaCookie. So Glad you could attach to this. There are so many injustices in the world, some by women on men, but this is just one aspect that holds me near.
Thank you for the six stars.

Roy,
I know this had to be one of the hardest poems to pen. It brought tears to my eyes as I read. You have penned from your heart and to recall the pain and abuse your mother endured and I too can recall what my mother went through.

Yes we cried many tear seeing what our parents and so many women go through. Thanks for penning this my friend and I can feel your pain. I will talk with you soon. I thought I would sign on today and thus you have penned a very heartfelt poem. Lots of love.....Portia

Dearest, Portia. I saw an extra review appear on the numbers, and even before looking, I felt it was yours...why, I don't know. The happiest is knowing you were ok. I was getting worried. One always think the worst when imagination runs wild with people you care about.
Your appearance was the happiest for me. Now the review.
Thank you so much. Your was always the one that was missing, and until thus, no closure. So good to know you took it in your stride. I knew this would hold you close.

Dearest one, thank you for being there and well.
Thank you for the six stars. Big love, and happy you are here.
    My best wishes.

We have just celebrated women in America, only to discover our own service men have posted thousands of photos of our service women without consent. Respect has been a long relentless fight. Your words address many kinds of calloused disrespect of women. Thank you for speaking out.

Thank you so much for the six stars.

I read this the other day and then got interrupted and didn't get to the review. I remember it stirred my emotions then and find it is even better a second time around. This is such a powerful read, and an amazing tribute for the things that some women go through and yet still give love and devotion, and see the beauty of life.

Thank you so much for sharing this poem.
It must have been hard for you, and my wish for you is that you will find
some peace through sharing your pain.
I have to admit I felt my inside's twist and turn as soon as your
words took me away ...and I felt a bit sick. But I love the way
you are able to address and express not just your own experience,
but as you say the experience of millions around the world.
God Bless you my friend.
Hope you have a good day
Maddy

"So, remember well who gave you life..."
"An opus of love, she's all of these..."

I have singled these out, although I could re-write the whole poem if I wanted to illustrate what makes a man a man, what makes a man a poet...beautiful, my friend. Yours is such a stalwart heart, always loyal to the cause of those in need...those weaker than you. Blessings, Roy.

Abuse is never the way to go. I had years of abuse when I was younger so before I got married I told my then fiance that if he ever hit me, spit at me, threatened me, etc I'd be out. I wouldn't be around long enough for him to explain/apologize. There are somethings that shouldn't be tolerated. Sadly, these men and women think they deserve it, can't do any better, he/she said they were sorry, it won't happen again...It's something that doesn't just happen once. At least not in my world. You did a great job with this.
