OMG, I swear I was singing this work in my head, in a piratey voice no less. I imaged Jack Sparrow swilling rum and joining in. This is truly a delicious and humorous work, sound effects and all. I found nothing to tweak or adjust. Extremely well done.

Hi Dean,
What a spectacular presentation which complements and highlights the gravity of the tale as it unfolds.
The visual images entice the reader whilst the words ensnare one to the end...thankfully not the same as John Manley.
A very worthy contest winner.
:-) Shirley

This by far one of your greater works and it deserves 12 stars. The rhyme and rhythm sway with the sea, and your poem, and story captivated me. The storyline at times sublime. The sounds inserted I found so real, as your passion, I could feel. A mighty good work, Dean.

Dean,

First of all, how on earth did you post this poem for the amount of 10 points and 12 cents? I don't think I've ever seen that before!

Now - to the poem itself. I can easily see why this one captured the ribbon for best poem in the contest. What a delightful - though horribly sad- story in a poem. I thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks and congrats!

It's because one of the certificates--the Weekly Reader--lasts longer than the pumps and others do. So there is still some residual money left after all the other certs have expired.
Not much, but some. I had it promoted to 1.18 at one time.
I'm glad you enjoyed the poem and I appreciate your congrats. Thanks a bunch for reading, Robyn.

The graphics and sound are spectacular. You have once again
produced a piece that can only be appreciated by computer. Your
work should be in books, but how, when you a produced a multi-
faceted piece of art with your poetry. The story of John Manley is
a tribute to all who have the courage to sail. -Bill

Dean: wonderful work as always. MPatty needs help on iambic. Yours is
so awesome with this beat. Love the music, photos and story. You are a
pro and mentor to us all. You always throw in great beat and alliteration.

I am working on writing skills through connections with NaNo and Weslyn University. NaNo wants us to become better writers before November when we another novel in a month.

Wow, Dean, this is a fantastic poem with a wonderful story within. You've told the legend of John Manley, who met his fate on the high seas. The ocean can never be under-estimated. This is so well written and a joy to read. It hardly comes any better. Good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla:)))

Gee whiz, Dean, this is just flawless in every way. The read is smooth as glass as a great tail of the sea unfolds. It's exciting and so poetic it makes a poet drool. Presentation only adds to the charm. A real masterpiece. I think this has a chance to do moderately well in the contest. LOL!!!! You could've dropped an iamb somewhere to give me something to bitch about. HA!!!! THIS is what I was hoping for. Thanks a million. mike

Great work with poem, Dean. I enjoyed cadence, the way you could almost sing it in verse. I assume you poets use meter, don't know nuthin' 'bout that. Good stuff and well done.

Good luck in the contest,
Russell
