Powerful piece for such a short one. Love the picture, too. Here is my favorite phrase:
despair flowed freely from the wound that was his ruptured heart

Ah, Hitch, you've killed me. This is too sad.

Excellent story. I feel so bad for the poor guy and you just made him up.

Good luck in the contest.

Really well done flash, Hitch. I think this will be a definite contender and wish you the best of luck. I found one thing and may be different where you're from. I wouldn't a hyphen with dining room.

Good luck,
Russell

Hello my friend

Wow, this is a very well written piece and very dark. We don't realize how much power words have until it's too late. This poor man didn't take the news so well. Excellent flash fiction. Good luck in the contest.

Gypsy hugs

You are too kind Gypsy, to sixes in a row friend...Thank you!! I enjoy the flash fiction contest because they are tight and compact forcing the writer to bring his A game and try and create atmosphere, emotions, strong visuals and offer up a story. I believe us poets are very good at doing just that friend : ))Hitch

this is a perfect 100 word flashfiction piece for the contest and quite a different piece of writing and picture that matches perfectly. Love it

Hi there,

Romance my arse... lol

This is a very taut little piece of writing. A lot of people struggle to put meaning, feeling and atmosphere into much longer pieces than you manage here.

Nice write.

Ha ha, They don't have a dark and destructive romance category so romance had to do : ) Thank you very much for you cool review mate, I'm glad you liked it ! Hitch

Hitcher,

Hello!

I used to write a lot of stories about suicide when I was younger. I was working out my feelings. I hope you are okay.

This is really good and very sad. I'm hoping his beloved runs in and then cut the rope saving his life. Then they marry and have a bunch of little babies.

Wow, guess I should switch to romance writing? :P

Ha ha, I'm good friend, just writing : ) I like your continuation of the story though, I'm sure similar scenarios would have happened in the real world as well. Hitch

Oh how sad. He received his " dear John" letter and hung himself. We don't always stop to think about how heavily our written words can lie. Sometimes it's kinder to say it to the persons face.

A classic goodbye forever.

However, there is no female alive worth killing yourself for.

Should make an interesting entry into this contest.

What a surprise! I now know what you meant when you talked about letting the reader know the internal - and external too? - feelings of someone who's planning to harm themselves. You did this brilliantly in only one hundred words. I'd need at least two 3K-word each chapters.

Have a great week ahead.
