Such a beautifully written poem, MM, and as always, the emotion reaches out to grab the reader's heart. I'm so lucky to have both my children so close to me. I thank God for them every day, and thank them for all they do for me. I hope you get to see him now and again...and what a reunion it must be. No matter where they are, we will always miss the little boy part of them.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

You are so right, my friend. We forever miss that charming, impulsive little boy and all his craziness. I wish I could see Jerry more often, but am thankful for the two children I do get to see... and the grandchildren too. Thank you so much for your understanding words and for the exceptional rating too. I'm honored. MM

I don't know what to say. Wow. Such a touching sentiment for your son in such a lovely poem. The memories, the descriptions, are all so well written. And, your love is so clear and open for your son. The repeated refrain of "I miss you," holds the piece together so well like super glue. The ending is especially well done, with the look at the other truck drivers, to see if you see him, but you never do, is heartfelt and wonderful. You and your son are lucky to have had each other.
Take care, Jesse

Great tribute to your son, it brought tears to my eyes as I have three sons. It brought back memories of their childhood also. I am blessed that they live close by and I do still get to see two of them at church on Sunday if not during the week.

You are truly blessed to get to see your sons on Sunday at church. I wish I lived closer to the truck-driver's twin, who is also in church every Sunday, but not the same church I attend. He's 200 miles away from here, but we do go back and forth frequently. It is always a treat to be in church with him. Thank you so much for reading this poem and for sharing your thoughts. I'm glad it brought back some happy memories for you. MM

This took on a whole different meaning for me. I'm so pleased that your son is a truck driver and you just miss him being away.
My son and I have been estranged for 23 years. It's been since then that I have seen his face or the warmth of his smile and I miss him everyday. I have extended myself to him in every way I know and he not receptive to any of it. He moved 3000+ miles away so I can't just drop in on him. He has eight lovely children and
I can see pictures on FB but sometimes that is more painful and than seeing them.

Sorry to go on but your poem tugged at a part of my heart that most days, I try to bury.
Blessing
Janet
'thank you for

Janet, I'm so sorry to hear this. Having one of your children treat you like this is so unbearably painful. I know. I sincerely hope some day he comes to his senses and reaches out to you. Don't ever give up. God bless you and give you strength. Love, MM

Thank you MM. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I do have a good relationship with my daughter and her 3 sons so I've learned to count what I do have and not worry so much about what I don't have. Having said that, I will never give up on my son.

    Blessings and Merry Christmas
    Janet

Hi Merri, you've written a wonderful poem here. It's clear how much you love and miss your son. I can relate to this personally, because I have a son who is a truck driver and also, my husband too.

MM this is a lovely poem and one that would speak to the heart of my sister as her son was a semi driver and at the age of 42 he made a stop for the night,. Crawled up in the bed in the semi and went to sleep to never awaken. He was her only son and she has two daughters. So I am going to copy this poem off and send it to her if you do not mind. Patricia

Oh, just so very lovely!! I miss my son, he lives in NC, I see him 2-3 times a year...but it's never the same. He's married now, and I am happy his life is blessed with love. But...I miss the child. Loved this, blessings...

Yes... we are happy for our children to grow up and be content but somehow we can't help missing the little boy or girl that was so much fun to have around. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for reading my poem. Hugs, MM
