Beautiful trip down memory lane. So sorry for your loss. Writer remembers everything about the son, and so many lovely memories. Sad but sorrow events going on and big red truck racing down highway are strong reminders. truly, liberty justice

Children are God's gift. Your poem eloquently expresses this. I hope you sent a copy of this to your son. It's the perfect Christmas gift on the lonely road.

One is reminded in this poem of two things. First, what it is to 'miss' someone, anyone. The first few stanzas here are made up of the memories of the childhood of the one missed and could apply to anyone who is missed as a result of any type of absence. Once fledged and flown the nest our children become like all these memories because they are common to all children.

Only in the last stanza are we made aware of the nature of the absence of this one particular person. So many if not most parents of now adult sons will identify and empathize with this beautully expressed free verse.

I think this is.a reminder of when leave home and are far away, my best memories are of my wife, myself and my girls gathered around the table for the evening meal. Those days are gone, and my elder child lives 2000 km away. Beautifully written free verse, articulate and reflectively poignant, well done Adonna, blessings, Roy

Hi MissMerri
A very nicely crafted free verse poem. I couldn't quite make out whether he was away driving his truck or whether he had passed on though.

Thank you for reading this poem and for your comments Jen. The truth is, he is away for long periods and I never know when I will see him again... or even if I will. He was such a delightful child. I have wonderful memories to sustain me. MM

A very well-written heartfelt poem. Our children are always the most important people in our lives even after they are grown up, they still have their places in our hearts.

MISSMERRI this is a beautiful, yet, sad poem. From what I understand your poem speaks of a son that you wish to see. He is always with you and yes every time you you look up he is looking at you and smiling, for he misses you too. A very good read. Thank you for sharing your love.
