Ah, RG, your poetry is so easily recognized - if there were a million in front of me, I could identify yours at a glance, and that, bard, speaks to something very special indeed. (I'm only glad your work is now receiving the recognition it deserves.)

No, the kiss does not lose its flavour, the ring its sparkle, the love its lustre - thank you for a splendid reminder!

Thank you, Dawn. Well, I don't look for much, except the kind you guys give...that is always the most important, because false desire or praise, could never compete.
Thank you dear friend. Hope you had a great birthday.
    My best wishes.

This is a wonderful poem of mature love. It shows that there is beauty in age. It uses so many nature metaphors well to show that this love will never fade and this man will never fail to see be beauty in his wife.

Keep writing

Joan

Thank you, dear Joan. A pleasure to get this from you.
I am sending lots of well wishes, and a toast to growing old, gracefully and happy, because contrary to belief, we all, every second, minute or hour, head in the same direction, so why not try to be happy along the way.
My best to you. Thank you for the six stars.

A beautiful poem with touching sentiments.
Rich language enriches the depth of meaning as does the amazing vocal reading.
The overall presentation is outstanding and an enriching experience in itself.
I found the stress placed on the words at line endings quite effective.
The perfect diction was enhanced by the pacing of the reading.
:-) Shirley

Beautifully written poem with lovely descriptive language. Nice imagery, felt the feelings of the narrative throughout your poem. I think it's nice to have the last verses about laughter and getting older-it's a combination you don't often see in people or writing. Oldness is equated with sorrow, loss and death. Great to have the ability to laugh in age. Well done.

Yes, we must aim to find the laughter when been told it is expected that we stay quiet and whither.

    Thank you so much.

Hello RG, Your poem is beautifully penned, soft and soulful. I especially liked:

"And when the caterpillar sleeps
in the silk it weaves,
does not the butterfly wake
to the heavens in reach?

(Lovely imagery and thought-provoking.)

I also loved your opening line as it sets the tone.
Is a rose less a rose if mature be--

(Just sharing my afterthoughts:
And so ...

"A rose once given in love -
fragrant and plump -
its petals now wilted
rest upon the pillow
where his Beloved once laid,
where silken hair once sprawled.
Gently, he picks up each petal
and cups them to his chest.

... and that's all she wrote ~ LateBloomer."

RG, which petals are more adored? The lush velvety petals or the wilted petals that holds the memories? Poet friend, as you can see, the message of your poem is clear - message received.
Excellent writing.

As always, your writing is a pleasure to read. Great complementary photo choice. You are very talented. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

What a fantastic review...and how you sum it up with the contrast between the vibrant petals and those crimpled with history....which is more worth...for me I know which is the more nostalgic. Your beautiful thoughts...very impressive...what a write. This the best review, by far...and I thank you.

The six stars seem so little in comparisson.

    Thank you dear friend.

RG, I liked the part about the caterpillar because when playing with my 3 yr old grandson, we roll him into his play mat/carpet and make believe he is a caterpillar and then he emerges as a butterfly because he loves the "Hungry Little Caterpillar" storybook. Smiles, Bloomer

I had a girl at work tell me she wished that I didn't make it to retirement age. Can I just say I'm putting a lot more than most away for retirement because I plan on retiring. I was so horrified this woman just told me that. She basically just wished me an early death. When I got my senior pictures taken in school they told me to enjoy it because it only happens once in life. I then stopped and asked why? They told me I'd only be a senior once. In high school, I suppose they are right there. However, I plan to make it to be a senior citizen. Why don't senior citizens gets senior pictures taken? Who can tell me I won't get my senior pictures taken again? Maybe I just like to argue. I loved this. I wish more people read this

You getthat picture, and most of all dear author, do not think to let the brain dictate a slowing down...believe in joy, belive in the right to be happy, not complacent waiting in gloom for the inevitable.

Just be what you think could not what others expect you to be or think like.

Thank you so much for the above, as well the six stars.
    Wishing you a great day.

Hi, RG

Great to be reading your lovely, lush poetry once again. This poem really appeals to me as I head into the territory of my golden years. In particular this image:

'That wedding ring; dimmed--
far less the glow.
Is it age we see,
or of love bestowed?'

This looks like an excellent candidate for POM!

So overjoyed to see one of my favorite author's back. Just a joy I have waited for a long time...all we need now is Marietta. :)
I know you are in the middle of a write now, so I hope to support that, but I can't help hoping one day to read you back in the suspense-supernatural that has barely an equal, so good was that dog Cujo, I think. Wow. I was hoping you woukld have published that.
    Good to see you here.
Have a great day. Thank you for the six stars.
    My best wishes.

    Hi, RG

As it happens, I have been working all this time on editing my Father Brian mystery. In fact, I am currently working on that with a great editor. It's going to be out the door, I hope, by the end of this year. I'm re-vamping the first three to four chapters for greater impact. Marietta has been RELENTLESS in urging me to keep going, bless her heart. She never lets me give up on myself. So, your words of encouragement mean a lot to me as well.

Your poem deserves a ten in my book!

    XX Bev

This is amazing RG. A beautiful, tender piece that speaks to the heart.
Each line resonated with me. It is uplifting and a joy to read. I think that more should be written to revere the older generation and this is certainly one of those times.

A joy to read my friend,
Blessings

Hi, Janet. Thank you so much. I must admit, I think, as many do, much about capabilities and time left, though cannot be truly monitored, but there is one thing I know. It is all in the mind, and if we can learn, early to understand that all life will end, the way we know it. We need to grasp the now, the beauty that we represent in ourselves, and find the joy being who we are, and not what we are expected to become...should it be we feel like 21 or 100. Be what you can, and look for the things that give pleasure for that given time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.

Thank you dear friend...you are just that. Thank you for the six stars.
    Have a beautiful day.

Truly outstanding. As a person approaching old age myself I found your words so uplifting and positive. In a world that worships youth your verse needs to be proclaimed from the highest mountain. Thought the colour pink also added an air of romance - beautiful!

This is beautiful and you are right..just because we age doesnt mean that we are less than we were. I've grown older but I still feel like I'm 17.I love this thought provoking and hopeful poem. Thanks for sharing.
