Nicely rhymed, robyn.
Our family name is important, and we try to teach our children what it means to honor it and not bring dishonor to it, but sometimes a misadventure happens. Can we forgive or do we ostracize the one who brought dishonor? That's a difficult question.
I do agree with Lee's comments.

Oh, I don't have a problem with that question. My kids always, always come first - before my name or anything like that. But, it would pain me severely if they allowed themselves to do something so foolish. Thanks for a thoughtful response.

Even a common name should be held unimpeachable. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very interesting read. There is very good imagery.

Great point in this poem, Robyn. I don't know anyone named Babs or Cricket. I wouldn't want their names. But I'm sure you mean the honor of an untarnished family name is a treasure above all material gain. Well done!

Perhaps I should have just had you write the poem -- you seem to handle the phrases much better....hahahaha! Where were you when I was struggling so!!???? hahaha! Thank you!!

I can't imagine you struggling with a poem, Robyn. I just think you must breathe poetry! I couldn't do better. Have a wonderful week!

What a wonderful story, Linda. What a precious, priceless gift. I'm so sorry you had to lose him, but look what he left you. What a blessing!!

reply by l.raven on 22-Jan-2018
yes he did...he was a very special man...I hope when I die I leave even with half the respect of my family and friends as he did...I sure miss him...but he and my mom were married 63 years...and it is so hard on her...everyone is doing all they can...he truly left a priceless gift behind...and we will see him again...and he is still here with...sigh...going to bed you...sweet dreams...love you...xxoo

This is a lovely poem pointing out the wealth of family compared to monitory items.
Well written, well said, well rhymed, and well done.
Thank you for sharing another lovely one with us.

Robyn, I have to agree with you on this great poem. Family means a lot to me also. We don't have a lot of family such as mom, dad, aunt or uncles, but we do have our children and grandson! I am blessed beyond measure! We do have our church family and fanstory family too! love you friend! Teri

I think the family members 'going down' from us are just as important as the ones trickling down to us! Don't you think??? And maybe even more so - because WE have to do OUR best to help them be the best they can be. That is so scary to me. yow!!

    Thanks for reading!!!

How precious is the poet
The reality is so clear
Not by what we have do we count
But by what we have in family cheer

A good name is hard to keep
That is certyain today
For the beswt of names is found
Upon the markers of the graves

There we find the memorues cvlear
The good we had to share
For the difficult times are forgpotten
When the future is a blessed token

Oh, Dan, I sure hope that isn't true. I know we all have to do our part, though, and it can be really scary. Time will tell, I suppose. Thanks for reading!!

Beautifully, Written...!
-Cheers Robyn;
-what a wonderful piece of writing and what it impacting conceptual theme and how you handle the topic was just brilliant.
-I myself have tarnished the family name but now I'm making restitution and maybe one day the tarnish might just rub off.
-You write so extremely beautiful and your choice of rhyming words are so contingent to the meaning and concept of each line that it makes the rhythm and rhyming flow smoothly throughout the writing helps the conceptual theme.
-I know this is just a 'Bing' picture but I did not know you had five brothers and a dog? Chuckle!
-Thanks for sharing Robin and take care and have a good one.
Alex

I think you're absolutely correct in assuming that family is the greatest treasure on can have on earth Robyn. Beautifully written in 7676 quatrains and sweetly scribed and fashioned, lovingly designed and well expressed Robyn, blessings, Roy

hahahahaha! I almost always read your reviews and go... that's MY stuff? Example: "sweetly scribed and fashioned, lovingly designed and well expressed" hahahahaha -- doesn't sound like anything I might have had a hand in. *smile* Thank you!

It must be wonderful to be able to trace your name back like this.

I love the idea of people with money and fancy titles not having any more than older established poorer people.

Due to my adoption I cannot trace my family back very far or even my name

hugs

Freda

Well, I think, in a case like what I'm talking about, your actual genealogy wouldn't matter. It's the FAMILY you're raised with and known by. The NAME you go by. The name you wear. But I get what you're saying. Thanks, sweetie!
