Hi Mark. Your imagination knows no end or boundaries does it? I laughed through most of this and felt quite bad for the "accountant" Keats, lol. Wonderful series, I believe I am now caught up. xoxo Kiwi

Thanks so much for reading all of these (especially since the certificate has expired on at least two of them). So glad you found them worth your time.

Mark,Mark,Mark,...once I read this fine missive three times plus, I started counting on my inability to completely roll it around in my brain. SO, I started over from a place of stupidity...where I happily then read it four times...and began putting it together. This picture of "Lord Byron" behind the desk is so stinking cute...to begin with, then we have a precious memory to process from Grecian Formula, that brought a smile. I'll sum this up.
You are a great writer

Thanks so much, my friend. Always good to hear from you. Glad that there are folks like you who have similar senses of humor to mine. I'll never be a great writer, but if I can make a few people laugh, it's time well spent.

I was born before 1950 so this was particularly humorous for me. Your use of words and your story line are ridiculously funny and I laughed throughout the whole story. Very well written, very imaginative. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

I found this absolutely pricelss!

>>Come, my love and let me audit you.
Open your ledger to me and I will pore over every entry,
For only you can reconcile the imbalance in my heart.<<

Dashiell or Chandler, I loved how these fellows had it with their dumb blonde descriptions. I mean this

>>She was a blonde, the kind of blonde that makes old men clutch their hearts and priests clutch their rosaries. I didn't need a ledger to tell me that this dame had assets - real tangible assets. The kind of assets you could bounce a quarter off of. I knew right away that those assets were going to be my liability<<

is just unbeatable, whichever way ou look at it.

I throughly enjoyed this excellent write.

Hi Mark,

It's a shame you had to put the disclaimer at the beginning of this piece. I think it detracts slightly from the write.

The Grecian rhyme is priceless...lol

I don't think I've ever seen 'Billy Elliot' used in this manner.

see how that could happen," he explained, "Luckily I realized my error - technically the dialogue following the tag should start lower case as the previous isn't closed off. Either that or change the comma to a full stop following the tag.

Although... I'm pretty sure I've read worse pieces on this illustrious site...

Excellent linking to the previous expose.

"OK" - need end punctuation before the closing speech marks here.

I suggested a mutual fund - end punctuation needed.

I'd want to read the whole story - sounds like a riot.

Great stuff
G

A very well-written second part of your fun introduction to another lesser known new Fanstorian. A born accountant can find creative writing more difficult then mathematical problems.

If anyone had told me that i would obtain such enjoyment from a story featuring an accountant as hero I simply would not have believed it. Mark, you are the gigglemeister supreme. I loved it. Keep these lesser known Fanstorians coming; they are such fun.

I got lots of laughs out of this. What a chronicle. I especially love Byron Keats's Grecian Formula Ode. Maria and the great joint checking account disaster make for another hilarious moment in the Byron Keats story. Of course his 5-7-5 got disqualified. The trek to Canada to meet another FanStorian, Gordon Trumbell. The shift to hard-boiled accountant Jake Cruncher is delicious. Love the hard-boiled dialogue that follows, with a lot of double entendre. It's good to hear he's rising in the FS rankings. Titles of his stories were funny. Really side-splitting humor. I think in a way your stories say a lot about the backgrounds and expectations of real RS writers. judi

Ha, this is fantastic, Mark. I knew that Trumbull guy was fake, but Dashiell no way, he is totally real. Didn't he date that Lillian Hellman dame?

I had no idea he'd opened a FanStory account though. ;-) Your accountant fusion poetry was right on the money.

Ha, in all seriousness though this is fantastic!

Wow this was a very creative piece that calls upon numerous sources and multiple generes to compile a well crafted spoof that could well pass for the truth. From the beginning you have us pulling for our hero, even when it is obvious that his poetic prowess is very much in question. The dialog is terse and on point. I like both the premise and the development of the body of this work. Thanks for sharing.
