Nice crafted group of abcb quatrains recounted a trip on the mythical River Styx to the underworld. It seems like the speaker is praying for a detour to take him to the more pleasant part of the land of the dead.

Keep writing

Joan

Super adventure story, account filled with breath taking events, captivating to its reader drawing them in closer. Energy level rises as writer concludes this journey, becoming more intense than the beginning. All in my opinion.

You know what Dean? Just like you think I can write romance that makes someone read it, you are the best writer I've ever seen when you do it just for the hellofit! Who wouldn't be impressed with your form, style, creativity and just sheer talent. Loved this one a lot! xx deb

why have you become so "formal" with me? And no I don't think I would be surprised. People are insane and I write romance. I catch plenty of strife over that don't you worry ... smiles xx

    Me, formal?
Cordial perhaps, and I always try to be polite.
I respond as I see fit and as I feel the review warrants, Deborah.
    No intense offended.

A ghostly voyage across dark and uninviting seas is written excellently Dean, the imagery is second to none and the chill factor excels.
Fabulous writing my friend

OMG! From either up above, or down under, 'Edgar Allen Poe' can be heard saying, "Listen all ye who have ears--For Dean Kutch is a-stealing my thunder!" One of--if not your best 'Horror and Thriller' presentations that I have read, Dean. If you wrote this poem--"Just for the helluvit," then I'm going to skip on by the one you write when you are serious. "Grandpa, can I sit in your lap? I'm scared to death!" The graphics compliments your message, and are intriguing. 'Semper fidelis', my dear friend!

This is a dark and chilling write Dean, a journey with a hopeless end and a ride into the unknown. The scariest verse for me was:

But yonder, lights in harbor wane,
beyond this rising squall.
God help me, here I float in vain;
gulls seek to maim and maul.

Best of luck, love Dolly x x x

Love the picture and music that played, which gave it very dramatic touch. I very much enjoyed the poem with its demons, echoes and voids. I felt like it was dark and I was on the sea of an abyss. Sherman541

This reminded me of the "Vorpal sword" used by Lewis Carroll in his nonsense poem "Jabberwocky". It also reminds me of the Alice, the Cheshire Cat, the smoking Caterpillar and the Mad Hatter himself. I hope that you take no offense to any of that, as I love them all and your poem was written quite well.

You make mention of Davey Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean !! Another favorite of mine. Hades himself was God of the underworld and Poseidon is the God of the sea. Neptune was the Roman God of the sea.

Nice use of alliteration here. I particularly like
"Lo', softly, whispers waft about--
etch echoes in my mind".
You are a master at creating atmosphere!
Having just read a book about the Nantucket whalers and incredible feats of survival following shipwreck I found this quite compelling. There were of course many who experienced the fate you describe.
