Sandra. I can fully see the story told in your poem etched on the woman's face...

"Of love that has eluded me"

Sad when someone goes through life without a partner.

You have a well layed put plot, great cadence and rhymes.

Thoroughly enjoyed it,
John

Thank you so much, John. The saddest thing is some on FS have told me they can relate to my poem. Thanks again, my friend. Sandra xxx

As always perfect. This resonates with me as I never married. It doesn't bother me now but of course when you are young you think you must find prince charming to be happy. One thing I do think about it growing old alone. No kids. I am the youngest in my family, sister is 10 years older. As I grow older I think more about death and think, "should I take super good care of myself or should let myself go so I don't live to be too old." =} My niece and husband who are wonderful say they will take care of me, but I don't know if I can burden them that way. So I just decide not to think about if so much. =} Very well done.

I understand what you mean, I have an uncle who is unmarried. After he split with his fiancee back in the 1960s he never looked for another. He, like you, has family and nephew's and nieces who are all looking out for him in his old age. He's happy enough. I think we all think of death as we are ageing, I know I do a lot. My fear is being too old to look after myself and having to go into a nursing home and be treated like a child as, like you again, I couldn't put myself on my sons and their wives. I think I'd do anything not to have that happen. It is worrying. Thank you so very much for the 6 stars, Rox, and let's both be positive about our old age. We'll both go out doing the can-can! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA2avYxfaFU

Hi Sandra, not only is the picture a beauty, but it also tells volumes. You've picked that up and composed a wonderful poem trying to imagine what is going through her mind. You've done a wonderful job. A big hug from a very windy Spain.
I'm starting to move some of my furniture tomorrow. On Friday, I will be in my new home for good. I can't wait. xxxx

Thank you so very much for the lovely six stars, Ulla, and the wonderful review. Have fun with your move, you will have to post some photos so we can see your new home. So exciting for you. Good luck my friend. Sandra xxx

I promise, once I get sttled I will take photos and send them to you. Can't wait for your new chapter in your book xxx

I'm working on it, it's just that I'm having problems sitting, laying down, and can only stand to type, and that's only for a short time. I didn't realise how painful a torn hamstring is. I'm just doing the editing on the latest part now. :)) I look forward to seeing your photos. :) xx

What a wonderful poem built around this picture. I think you have captured the thoughts of many who never found 'the one.'

Your poetry always flows so smoothly, and are a joy to read.

An excellent character sketch, Sandra. Causes one to wonder if we love by date or by design. Certainly, it requires a giving of self that some folks don't seem capable of doing. SO sad. :) Nancy

Thank you, Nancy, for your thoughts on this poem. I am in complete agreement with you on that. To receive love, you must learn to give love, and show love. I think some are frightened to allow anyone enter their inner self. It is sad. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Wow, This is really great Sandra. The meter and the rhyme are a perfect pair and the combination describe the picture
perfectly. My first review of the morning and it deserves a six. I just happen to have one. Well done my friend. Well done. Nancy

That is so nice of you, my friend. Thank you so much! The six stars are gratefully accepted, with pleasure. Now I've posted my 6th poem. Took a while!! lol. I'm 42 in the rankings, but don't think I'll get much closer to the top now, not while I'm writing prose as well. Big hugs, dear friend. :) Sandra xxx

These are questions I often ask myself, Sandra, although I know the majority of my lack of a love in my life is of my own doing.
I have little use for love.
Human contact is nice as is companionship.
But I have been down love's lackluster lane before twice and will never travel that road again.
Lovely poem, the emotive narrative fits your accompanying picture quite well.

Many are telling me that, Dean, even my son's mother-in-law. Sometimes it's easier to have a companion who calls now and again, but not outstay their welcome. I hope you're happy, my friend, that is the main thing. Thank you for your lovely review. Big hugs. Sandra. xxx

And of course you will never know. This is sad if those are her thoughts but I think perhaps she might be reminiscing in her thoughts. Remember she wasn't always like this. There was a time before wrinkles when she turned heads and lads on building sites whistled at her. There probably was at least once someone special.

I don't think love passed her by but passed on and now it is unlikely to recur. But she has those delightful memories to sustain her.

I suspect you are right, Jim, we all experience some sort of love, even if it's not returned. I had a friend tell me that about her boyfriend, a long time ago. He didn't love her, only pretended. The awful thing was, he went off with her sister. Thank you for your thoughtful review, my friend, it's nice to read you have a romantic soul. :)) Big hugs. Sandra xxxx

Hello, Sandra,

A very good poem that brought tears to my eyes.

This is how I feel:
But time has ticked by way too fast
I fear my chance of love has passed
A wilted flower gone to ground
My search for love was never found

And now I slowly wander home
Where I will sit there on my own
To read my books of poetry
Of love that has eluded me

Oh, Rasmine, it's so sad when we feel so alone. There are so many who are and yet no one sees them. Lonely people seem to be invisible. I do hope you do have someone to make you smile, my friend. Thank you so much for the 6 stars, I'm sending you a really big hug. I'd come in person if my joints would stop seizing up! xx Sandra xx

    TY, Sandra, :)
I am well -- I have a really cute kitten to keep me company, and am popular here! Everyone is always inviting me to visit them. As a writer, though, I do need time alone, you know? And I have my beliefs. ;)

I am a firm beliver that love eludes no one, and in some way, some form it always redescovers itself...when one least expects it...for whatever the entity.
My best wishes.

    Hi, Sandra
Just to let you know that my new work will be released in about an hour's time. I am telling you this as you are one of my fans and it will not appear in your mailbox again as it was released early by the system, unfinished, and was deleted, and will not show released again in your mailbox, but you can now read it, if you are interested to do so, and it suits your ear... with curtesy, not for the sake of stars, just the option of knowing it is available, than not knowing. It will be also on the front page.
My best wishes. :) Have a beautiful Sunday
