I do hope Sandra that this is not biographical and if it is then girl, jump your self right out there and have fun. Love gravitates methinks to those already in love, or the happiest of us all. That picture is a Regrave isn't she. How classically beautiful she has become. Be well dear friend. xoxo deborah

No, it's not me, Kiwi, I saw the picture and she looked so sad. Yes, it is her, she is an amazing actress and she can allow her features to become the part so easily. I don't know what part she's playing here, but it must have been a sad one. Thank you so much, my friend, for this lovely review. Big hugs. Sandra xx

I think she is like many of us who have raised our familes and one mate leaves and the other remain to remember when. Nothing wrong that I can see.

It certainly is, Ben. It's very sad, isn't it? I hate the thought of being totally alone, and there are many in the world who are. Memories are really important for everyone, so we must make sure we have happy ones. Big hugs. my dear friend. :) Sandy xx

Hello Sandra,
Well, you surely have interpreted this artwork brilliantly, I must say. The subject of your chosen artwork does, indeed, appear to be musing about never having met her truelove and now facing old age...and death ...alone. I know quite a number of women who are in their late 40s and 50s who never have had time to develop and relationship with another and have expressed many of the same thoughts found in your verse. So it goes! Well-crafted!

Thank you so much, Diane. The problem today is, many women prefer to work longer and climb the 'ladder' rather than have a social life. Then, one day they find themselves alone. It is sad, I'd hate to end my life that way. One reviewer said, it really is better to have loved and lost, at least you knew how nice it can be. Thank you, my friend, for another lovely review. Big hugs. Sandra xx

You did a fantastic job, Sandra, matching the picture to the words of your poem.
Loneliness is so heartbreaking, when one believes over and over that love will bless them, but it keeps passing them by and leaves them with loneliness. This was so well done, my friend and super enjoyable for the quality of writing. Thanks so much.

What a lovely review, Alie, thank you so much. To be old and have regrets is a sad way to end a life, but there are many who do. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xx

You are very welcome Sandra, I agree that being old and having regrets is a horrible way to finish life. Big Hugs back to you. (smile)

I'm sure your poem will hit home with so many readers. As in life, more people than we can ever imagine have settled for goodness, friendship, financial security, and respectability. Forsaking true love, never feeling the butterflies and excitement that could have fulfilled what's always been missing in their lives. Afraid to wait, for what may have never come, or to take the chance when it might have. Thanks for sharing another of your fine poems that, as you can tell, puts me to thinking. Great job. :-)

How true is this poem for so very many people. You have such a gift with words. The imagery is perfect. In all my loooooong years of life, I've known just one couple whose love for each other is as fresh as the day they first realized they were meant for each other. That was thirty years ago and they are my best friends.

It is so nice when you see happily married couples, isn't it. And you are witness to it being true. It makes is a sadder thing that some never get to know how it feels to love and be loved. Thank you so very much for your lovely review, my friend. Big hugs. Sandra xxx

This is a lovely poem Sandra and well composed in aabb rhyme form. I don't think you need worry about the lovely lady in the picture - she is never alone. It's Vanessa Redgrave. Oh how the years take their toll - it's frightening. I repeat, lovely poem. Regards Dorothy xx

I knew I recognised her face, but I couldn't put a name to her. The years certainly haven't been kind. She is a lovely lady though. Thank you so much for another lovely review, my friend. Big hugs, Sandra xx

How sad, but it must be well written because I feel her pain, even though I have Mark and can't relate...except through your poem. You chose all the right words, I guess, for it worked. And now I'm sad. :(

But I'll get over it. :)

Just look at Mark and you will smile again, my friend. I just think it's so sad that some people don't meet that someone special. I wonder if they look too hard that they don't 'see' the 'one' when they do see them? Thank you for your lovely review, my friend. Big hugs. :) Sandra xx

Such a sad and poignant work, a lot more substance and unpretention to this wonderful work than "he done me wrong" poetry, that is written frequently, (I get a complex from that)
I know you have a sweet nature Sandra, it's reflected in your work, it's hard to hide in one's writing, superbly done, blessings, Roy

Oh, yes, the wondering in the elder years of that eternal "why" and the sorrow that comes with being alone. Brings to mind the question is it better to have loved and lost than never having loved.
I don't sense bitterness, but resignation. "And hoped one day I too would meet
My true love walking down the street."
Good job with the story and perfect fit of artwork!
