Limericks are my cup of tea. I had a good laugh with this one. The rhyme between "green" and "gin" is a bit of a stretch, but it didn't detract from the fun in the writing. Nice work. Be well.

Thank you for the great review. I guess, Coleen was too inebriated
after her Tonic and gin, and her rhymes went down accordingly (lol).

It's the best limerick I have read today. I read a bunch for the contest, too bad you didn't enter, you would have won. But I get it. I only enter site contest. Contest can be a waste of FS money.

Thank you, dear one. This was actually a repost, it was originally posted in 2018 for St. Patrick's Day, and it was not for the contest. Glad you enjoyed this one, love, EM.

reply by Gypsy Blue Rose on 21-Mar-2022
Yes, I know is not for the contest but it would have been the best.

Hello EM,
This is an excellent, fun limerick for St Patrick's day
With perfect meter and very good rhymes
and, of course, the green theme and red hair.
Great art work to match.
Nicely done.
Best wishes.
Robert

Nicely done for us Irish.

There once was a lass named Coleen.
She always looked lovely in green.
Her flaming red hair
And her looks did compare
With anything you'd ever seen.

Hello Eternal Muse, very good, very cute Limerick and most timely.

I especially liked:
But her passion was tonic and gin!

(We must convert her to a little Irish whiskey, especially
on St. Patrick's day - lol.)

Well-chosen artwork. A fun poem that made me smile. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Thank you for the great review. Yes, I guess she should discover Irish Whiskey, to remain Irish (lol).

I enjoy reading limericks when they are well written, as this one is, with a fifth lines that makes the entire piece humorous. Your chosen artwork pairs so perfectly that when you read the limerick, you envision the smiling girl in the picture. Well done.

EM,

So many limericks appearing these days! Dolly's doing a run of them and then I've seen lots of others, too. I have to wonder if, like in this case, they are mostly inspired by St.Paddy's day. Curious!

The only thing here is that in the US - 'Coleen' and 'green' rhyme beautifully. 'Gin' does not. hahaha

Thanks!

Thanks, Robin! Yes, there is a round of limericks going on, including two Limerick contests.

Regarding your comment on the last line, what can I say? She was sober in the beginning, so two lines rhymed well, but after too much gin and tonic it all went haywire (lol). The best she could do is slant rhyme.

reply by robyn corum on 18-Mar-2022
hahaha! A nice note to add maybe - for smiles. Thanks!

-Nice artwork and presentation, E.M..
-A well written limerick with a good topic.
-Effective imagery and rhyme.
-Coleen was quite the gal wearing her green
with passion to match it.
-But alas, the lads were left
cause she preferred her "tonic and gin!"
-Well done.

My sort of girl! I guess Guinness is not easy to find a rhyme for? Thank you for making me smile, a relief after watching the news. I think we need more humorous competitions on this site to bring a bit of relief to this crazy world.
