It seems every place should have metal detectors at their doors or some one frisking you so there are no guns that get through entry ways. This is a strong short poem in honor of these men shot in the line of duty.

Hope this did well in the contest.

So many tragic events happening in this world and we keep asking WHY? People have no self control, anger is off the charts, they have a dark and hateful agenda. Your Cinquain pinpoints the uselessness and viciousness of their acts. Marilyn

Some of my children are law enforcement. I knw the feeling as I pray each morning for their safety. Blessed are the peacemakers for they are called children of God. Thanks for sharing.

A very well-written Cinquain about the senseless killings of mad men with guns and motor vehicles, we are living in a very sick world where there is just no respect for another's life.

There is so much grief between the Dallas and Toronto tragedies, and I had not heard that the officer in Texas died. I think most of us are shedding tears today. Thank you for the tribute to the brave, young officer in this cinquain, and best wishes in the contest- Joan

There have been so many incidents like this. I read other people's stories and poems about the Toronto killings. Even when people are denied a gun, they can still find ways to slaughter others. I like your choice of hot tears, as the words reflect the anger you felt, as well as the sadness, when the shooting occurred. You have your syllable count just right for the contest. This projects a lot of emotion, and it is sad to hear about these senseless killings. When will they end? judi

    Yes, but searching and handcuffing criminals is not police brutality. This is No. 1 emergency law enforcement rules and procedures and is urgent to protect officers and the public.

I just watched this on the "nightly" news. I quote "nightly" because it's just too often anymore and it is sickening! So heartbreaking to see, but I appreciate your poem that pays tribute to those who serve. Your last line, "hot tears." is a great way to make an emotional impact for readers.
